My latest ad media test ?

My latest ad media test                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 February 29, 2024 | [Read Online]( This week I finally made good on something I’ve been wanting to do for months. I created our first ‘talking head’ video to use in paid advertising for my company [InboxDone.com](. You can see it (and me!) in action here: We’ve been using testimonial videos for a number of months in our paid ads on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. Testimonials make for great ads, but you need other media as well. Ads perform worse over time, plus you need to test other forms of messaging. For a long time I’d wanted to do a video like this, a common format on social media. I happened to be living in a high rise building in Vancouver for a week long AirBNB stay, and the light was fantastic. This was my excuse to finally record some videos. It took me a few takes, but I eventually had raw footage for two videos. More Media, More Money Last week I finished up a blog post I am also using as a paid ad. You can see it here: [Email Is Not Your Job — And It’s Costing You $200,000 (Or More) A Year]( I have a banner designer creating graphics we can use in campaigns, also as retargeting ads (ads that follow you around the web after you visit a website - I’m sure you know them). We are working with a paid media consultant, who each week is tweaking the campaigns and using the new media I supply him. I plan to also test this media as TikTok ads, the one remaining big platform we haven’t advertised on yet. Time will tell if any of this brings in a meaningful increase in sales, but I am confident results will come as we reach more people. At the very least, we will learn what format, messaging and platform works best and can apportion budget accordingly. What Are You Testing This Week? Over many years of coaching clients, I noticed a trend… Those who attracted customers were the people who consistently did things to get in front of new audiences. Unfortunately a majority of people get stuck ‘in the weeds’, spending time planning products and funnels, deciding on pricing points and program content, overthinking things that don’t matter in the short term. I knew the people who would succeed because I could ask them — “What did you do to reach people this week, and what results did you get?” If they could talk about email opt-ins, clicks on ads or content, video views, podcast listens — something that showed actual audience reach — then I knew they were heading in the right direction. People get stuck thinking about their message, wanting to be clear on an entire business strategy or content plan, before going out there and telling people you exist. Your strategy and plans will change over time. They are meant to because that means you are learning and adapting what you do based on what you learn. You can’t learn without some kind of feedback. Your brain can’t figure this out alone. I’ll end this newsletter with that same question for you — What did you do this week to reach people? Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
