Critically acclaimed podcast returns for Season 3 [View this email in your browser]( [This Week on WNYC]( "…one of the most immediately pleasurable podcasts I’ve heard…” — Sarah Larson, The New Yorker "Eminently listenable...a bonus feature for opera fans, and a welcoming entry point for newcomers." — The New York Times Aria Code returns! The magic of opera revealed, one song at a time. How can music get us through our darkest moments? The first episode of [Aria Code Season 3]( unpacks the famous "Nessun dorma" from Puccini’s Turandot, which has taken on special resonance over the last year as an anthem of hope during the pandemic. The episode features Dr. Michael Cho, a critical care physician and violist who has been on the front lines of COVID, and has seen firsthand the power of music as a source of healing and resilience; along with Metropolitan Opera music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin and a vintage performance from tenor Franco Corelli. Produced in partnership with The Metropolitan Opera, each episode of Aria Code pulls back the curtain on one of the most famous songs in opera and explores how and why these brief musical moments have imprinted themselves in our collective consciousness. Hosted by Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur “Genius” Fellow Rhiannon Giddens, the podcast features insights from some of the biggest singers of our time and a wealth of guests from outside opera. Each episode ends with the aria, uninterrupted and in full, recorded from the Met Opera stage. Join us for Aria Code to experience more stories of courage, love, desire and triumph.
