With your help, we can provide more waiting kids with a life-changing wish experience. I wanted to personally follow up and say thank you to everyone in NY who has made a gift to help us grant the wish of every eligible child. I’ve had many Wish Discovery visits where kiddos are a bit more quiet and reserved at the beginning because the thought of a one, true, heartfelt wish feels like something so far-fetched. However, once we dig a little deeper and start talking about all their likes and interests and start brainstorming, the joy and excitement truly just pour out of these kiddos and families. The impact the wish and our mission will have becomes incredibly clear. I see how they light up talking about taking a trip that they thought was a far-fetched dream. I see how they melt at the possibility of finally getting a puppy who will be by their side during their toughest moments. I see them discover a renewed sense of strength to make sure they’re physically able to experience their wish. But the truth is, there are too many kids who are waiting for wishes. And we’re still looking for another 194 supporters in NY to make their first gift so we can make more of these waiting wishes come true – and I noticed that your gift is missing. [That’s why I wanted to ask one more time: Will you please make your first donation today to help us provide more kids with the hope, strength and joy of a wish?]( [Make Your First Gift]( Thank you for being a part of our community! Marcia Buendia Bilingual Intake Specialist Make-A-Wish® ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Marcia Buendia, Make-A-Wish Date: Fri, Oct 4, 2024 Subject: The full impact of a wish [Make-A-Wish]( [Give Now]( [Make a Gift to Grant Waiting Wishes]( As a Bilingual Intake Specialist for Make-A-Wish®, I have the privilege of working with wish kids directly and helping them determine their one, true, most heartfelt wish. It all starts with a Welcome Call with their parents. I am often telling my team that if you want to truly understand and gain a different perspective of why granting wishes is so important, listen in on a Welcome Call. During the Welcome Call, we inquire on the child’s personality and medical journey, giving parents the opportunity to share the real and raw details of their families' journey. To be completely honest with you, there have been many calls when it’s taken everything in me to not cry. I am always asked how I do the work that I do… because I know how amazing their experience will be at the end of their Wish Journey! An experience that will bring them and their families so much hope, joy and strength! It’s this community that makes these life-changing wish experiences possible, which is why I’m reaching out today. It takes a village to raise a child and a community to grant a wish. Every single day, 40 more kids are added to the list of waiting wishes and begin their wait for it to come true – and thousands of kids are currently waiting nationwide. That’s why we’re looking for 500 supporters in NY to make their first gift today for kids who are in need of a wish. [Please, will you donate for the first time today to help us grant as many wishes as possible, so no child has to wait another day for their wish?]( [Make a Gift]( I see the impact of your generosity in the lives of these kids firsthand every day, and there aren’t enough words to express how grateful I am for all you do to make these wishes come true.
