Don't miss out!]( The first biography of Ivan Sirko, written by Dmytro Yavornytsky in 1890, gave Sirko's place of birth as the sloboda of Merefa near the city of Kharkiv. Historian Yuriy Mytsyik states that this could not be the case. In his book Otaman Ivan Sirko[2] (1999) he writes that Merefa was established only in 1658 (more than 40 years after the birth of the future otaman). The author also notes that Sirko later in his life did actually live in Merefa with his family on his own estate, and according to some earlier local chronicles there even existed a small settlement called Sirkivka. However, Mytsyik also points out that in 1658–1660 Sirko served as a colonel of the Kalnyk Polk (a military and administrative division of the Cossack Hetmanate) in Podilia, a position usually awarded to the representative of a local population. The author also gives a reference to the letter of Ivan Samiylovych to kniaz G. Romodanovsky (the tsar's voyevoda) in which the hetman refers to Sirko as one born in Polish lands instead of in Sloboda Ukraine (part of Moscovy). Mytsyik also recalls that another historian, Volodymyr Borysenko, allowed for the possibility that Sirko was born in Murafa near the city of Sharhorod (now in Vinnytsia Oblast). The author explains during that time when people were fleeing the war (known as the Ruin, 1659–1686) they may have established a similarly named town in Sloboda Ukraine further east. и стати художником, хлопець побував у трьох церковних малярів. Відвідав відставного поручника й українського поета Віктора Забілу на його хуторі Кукуріківщина під Борзною. У червні 1843 побував у Києві, де познайомився з Михайлом Максимовичем та Пантелеймоном Кулішем, і на Полтавщині відвідав Євгена Гребінку в його Убіжищі. У лютому 1844 р. повертається до Петербурга закінчити навчання в Академії мистецтв. У листопаді 1844 року побачив світ перший випуск "Живописной України", до якого увійшли офорти: "У Києві", "Видубецький монастир у Києві", "Старости", "Судня рада", "Дари Богданові і українському народові", "Казка". У квітні 1845 р. Шевченко приїздить на Україну, щоб постійно тут жити і працювати. За дорученням Київської Археологічної комісії зарисовує історичні пам'ятки. Того ж року пише поезії "Не женися на багатій...", "Не завидуй багатому..." та містерію "Великий льох", поеми "Наймичка", "Кавказ", вступ до поеми "Єретик" та всесвітньо відомий «Заповіт». У цей же період Тарас Григорович знайомиться з Костомаровим, формуються його політичні погляди. Він вступає в «Кирило-Мефодіївське товариство». За епіграму на імператрицю і революційний настрій віршів збірки «Три літа» в березні 1847 року поета заарештовують і відправляють на заслання до Орської фортеці, де він повинен служити солдатом. Крім того, Микола І своїм указом заборонив Тарасу Шевченку писати і малювати, що для нього було досить гнітюче. За зиму 1857-1858 рр. Шевченко створив багато портретів, малюнків, редагував і переписував у "Більшу книжку" свої поезії періоду заслання, написав нові поетичні твори: "Неофіти", "Юродивий", триптих "Доля", "Муза", "Слава". Одержавши дозвіл на проживання у столиці, 8 березня поет залишив Нижній Новгород і через два дні прибув до Москви. Тут він зустрічається з друзями, знайомиться з діячами науки і культури. У 1859 році Шевченко отримав дозвіл повернутися в Україну. Але за революційну агітацію серед селян його знову заарештували і звеліли виїхати до Петербурга. 4 вересня 1860 року Рада Академії мистецтв надала Шевченкові звання акадеціка-гравера. Цього ж року виходить нове видання «Кобзаря». 26 лютого (10 березня) 1861 року Шевченко помер. На кошти друзів (13 березня) його було поховано спочатку на Смоленському православному кладовищі в Петербурзі. Після того як п'ятдесят вісім днів прах Т. Г.
