Something needs to happen to protect people’s independence, their autonomy, their freedom, their freedom of agency. So many kids today, so many of our children are on these platforms. Their brains are being hijacked. No one’s protecting them. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ December 12, 2023  |  [View Online](  |  [Sign Up]( , This week’s Session with Demetri Kofinas is more imaginative than prescriptive. The topics are cerebral, touching on concepts and ideas rather than “what is seen,” as Bastiat would put it. “There is revolution in the air,” Demetri states… And the “public square” of the internet is where the world will make its choices. Demetri Kofinas is a media entrepreneur whose mission is to help uncover the hidden forces and pivotal patterns shaping our lives. His podcast of the same name—Hidden Forces—offers a challenging, contrarian perspective. He brought that same energy to the table today. Without being fatalistic, we delve into the limits of the American empire as the internet drives a rethinking of politics and forces a reorganization of global power structures, away from centralization and toward a new consensus—“a new social contract.” This is the most important question of our generation, according to Demetri: What role does the government have to play today as it did during the progressive and populist era in terms of protecting the public interest? The paradigms that we have in our heads about the role of government and the role of the private sector are not going to work in a world like this, with this kind of technological innovation. Something needs to happen to protect people’s independence, their autonomy, their freedom, their freedom of agency. So many kids today, so many of our children are on these platforms. Their brains are being hijacked. No one’s protecting them. How is that even acceptable? I find that to be one of the biggest... I don’t even know where to rank that other than at the very top of[the biggest failures of our society.]( Also discussed in this episode of The Wiggin Sessions: What to do after things fall apart, the clear and present danger of the “leadership deficit” in America, “milk toast” politicians and the chaos of wartime in an internet world. [Watch the Session Now ▶️]( Follow your own bliss, Addison Wiggin The Wiggin Sessions P.S. “We've gotten very accustomed to the world that we live in today,” Mr Kofinas says. “And we don't get to live in a peaceful democracy without making sacrifices and taking responsibility for this country.” He continues in earnest: I think that we've gone very far from that in the past several decades. The future is going to require not just responsibility, but also recognition that it can't be the way we want it to be. It can't just be fair. Unfortunately, the people that got away with making money on the upside and on the downside in 2008, who got bailed out when their banks failed. Unfortunately, we don't get to hold them accountable. We don't get to hold everybody accountable. And a lot of those of us who were not at fault for that, or who had to pay the price for it, might end up having to pay some of the price again.[And that's just how it is.]( We want to know what you think about this Session.
