School meal programs can pave the way to a brighter future. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( Hello {NAME}, Growling stomachs, fatigue and brain fog: Every day, millions of kids around the world go to school on empty stomachs. And, for many, a school meal is the only food they have each day.  For 60 years, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has provided school meals around the world. A daily nutritious school meal can transform a student's life by keeping them in school and giving them crucial access to education. [Joyce serving school meals in Uganda.]( Joyce serves lunch to girls at the Kangole Girls Primary School in Uganda. [LEARN MORE]( Joyce Namoe knows first-hand how transformative school meals are, particularly for girls. Joyce is a program associate for the U.N. World Food Programme and oversees the school meals program at Kangole Girls School in Uganda. Nearly 40 years ago, Joyce walked the halls of Kangole Girls School as a student. She received U.N. World Food Programme school meals and an education. "It gave me a future, it gave me a standing as a girl in my community, and it has led me to a life with the U.N. World Food Programme," Joyce says. Today, Joyce advocates for the importance of school meals and girls' education. She sees the impact of her work directly: The school meal program and take-home meals have improved girls' enrollment and attendance at the Kangole Girls School. Seeing this progress, Joyce is hopeful and inspired to continue the work. "Today you can find there are many girls in school, even more than boys. I'd love to really talk to girls and give them strength and courage to stay in school," she shares. Only with your support can we create more stories of hope and help break the cycle of poverty.
