{NAME}, our emergency operation needs your help right now. [View in browser]( [World Food Program USA.]( [DONATE]( {NAME}, When I started thinking about writing to you, I had no words. My name is Raymond. I have been working for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) since finishing my studies, and I am Lebanese. Day and night, I keep my phone next to me, and I check it constantly for news from Lebanon. I don't know if the next message will tell me that I have lost my family or my friend or my home. I grew up in Beirut. The streets where I played with my friends have been flattened. My parents have had to leave our house. At night, I wake up and I think, will I ever see them again? Fear, worry and constant anxiety – these strong feelings come with another. I am proud to be working for WFP at this time. I see my colleagues in Lebanon putting their lives in danger to deliver lifesaving food and support. They're working around the clock to reach 1 million people who have lost their homes and have no food – among them perhaps friends and family of mine. But the reality is, WFP won't be able to sustain this emergency scale-up for long. They don't have enough funds. That's why we need your help. [A $75 gift can provide a family of five with an emergency food box, which contains food for an entire month.]( I'd be so grateful for any help you can give. Lebanon is a small country – everyone is a neighbor or a friend. So, you'll understand that your support touches my heart. It has always been my dream to work for a humanitarian organization, and to help others. As a child, I lived through conflict in Lebanon. I remember my parents telling me, "Don't be scared. The war will end." Right now, there are mothers and fathers trying to calm their children by saying those same words. I don't want anyone to live in fear, or to lose their life in conflict or to hunger. I want war to end, for families to not be afraid anymore, for people to have peace and rebuild their lives. [Your support for World Food Program USA tells me we share that wish.]( Right now, WFP teams are distributing hot meals and food packages to people who have had to leave their homes and are now in shelters. Where markets are open, we're providing those in urgent need with cash to buy food. [I hope, if you can, you'll make a donation to help us reach more children and families.]( Please give the gift of food to help people in Lebanon survive, so they can rebuild when peace comes. Thank you, Raymond El Samarani United Nations World Food Programme Supporter Care P.S. [Even before this crisis, people in Lebanon were hungry. The conflict brings even more hunger, so please send a gift to help provide people who have been forced from their homes with emergency meals. Thank you.]( SAVING LIVES. CHANGING LIVES.
