They will stop at nothing in order to preserve the economic and political status quo — and the massive income and wealth disparities that we are now experiencing. One of the tools that the oligarchs use to maintain their position of power is to make it appear that real change is impossible, and opposition is useless. They have the power. Ain’t nothing we can do about it. That’s the way it is and always will be. Give up trying. Fortunately, these masters of the universe are wrong. Very wrong. As progressives, we have made enormous progress in recent years, and continue to do so. And we should be extremely proud of what we have accomplished. One area in which we have made huge strides is the number of progressives in the U.S. Congress. Back in 1990, when I was elected to the House of Representatives, we had 5 members. Today, there are almost 100. Many of them are young, people of color and very effective. The Democratic Caucus in the House is now more progressive than it has been for a very long time. We must continue the work of electing strong progressive Democrats to the House of Representatives who will implement an agenda that benefits working people, not the 1%. That is how change happens. That is the political revolution we talk about. [As we enter the final stretch of this election season, please contribute $27 to the Progressive Caucus. Every donation will go toward electing the most progressive Congress possible this November.]( If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly: [CONTRIBUTE $27]( [CONTRIBUTE OTHER]( Together, we can transform our nation and create a government that represents all of us, not just the people on top.
