Good Morning Boston, The storm has passed, but the power is still out for many this morning â and it could be a few days before it's fully restored. Here's what you need to know: - More than a dozen communities on the South Shore and Cape Cod have power outages for more than 90% of customers this morning. That's more than 303,100 customers still in the dark as a result of yesterday's nor'easter. The biggest number of outages are in Falmouth, Barnstable and Plymouth. National Grid says it's working hard to restore power, but prioritizing 911 instances to make sure areas are safe and secure. - The T is doing a little better this morning, but there are still some delays due to fallen trees and downed power lines. On the commuter rail, there are shuttle buses replacing trains between Rockport and Manchester. You can also expect delays on the Greenbush and Middleboro lines. - The Steamship Authority has some cancelations this morning, but it's trying to get back to its business-as-usual schedule today. Look to its [website for any updates.]( In other local news: - The state Senate has [given its stamp of approval]( the proposed new district maps for the state. The plan would double the number of districts with people of color in the majority. Now the maps are headed to the House for a vote. - The man who repeatedly fired a gun in the direction of officers during a Boston protest against police brutality last summer has been sentenced to jail time. John Boampong, 37, has been sentenced to [five years in prison.]( - Defrocked Catholic Cardinal Theodore McCarrick â the only U.S. cardinal ever to be charged with child sex crimes â is due in Dedham District Court today. The charges against him include sexually assaulting a teenager at a wedding reception in Wellesley nearly 50 years ago. - PSA: Springfield is dropping its indoor mask mandate on Monday. Masks are still recommended indoors â and businesses can still require you to mask up, in the same way they can implement a "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy â but city officials said they felt comfortable doing so, for now, since the infection rates have dropped. The seven-day positive test rate is just below 1.7%, and that's been below 2% for a month. In Massachusetts, more than 4.7 million residents are fully vaccinated, and this week 384,000 booster shots were administered to those eligible.
