Here's what else you should know: - In court today: The 11 people who were part of the standoff on I-95 on Saturday in Wakefield that closed the highway for hours. Early Saturday morning, police noticed two vehicles stopped on the side of the road with men carrying firearms. Police say the 10 men and one teenager had at least eight firearms, three of which were AR-15 rifles, and none of them had a license to carry. The group identifies as members of a militia and said they were on their way from Rhode Island to Maine for a "training." - It looks like we'll have a contested Republican primary race for governor next year. Former state Rep. Geoff Diehl [announced yesterday that he's running]( making him the first Republican to enter the 2022 race. ICYMI: Three Democrats have also announced plans to run for the top position: State Sen. Sonia Chang-Díaz, Harvard professor Danielle Allen and former state Sen. Ben Downing. - Speaking of the Republican party, the Mass GOP is launching a campaign to put a voter ID law on the 2022 ballot. Party chairman Jim Lyons believes all voters should be required to present a valid ID at the polls, and he's trying to get signatures to get the question on the ballot. - Another mass vaccination site is closing in Massachusetts today. The Eastfield Mall site in Springfield is the sixth to close as the state takes a more community-specific approach to vaccine distribution. So far, more than 4.2 million people have been fully vaccinated in the state. - PSA: Starting today, all retailers and grocery stores in Framingham will stop using single-use plastic bags. You can bring your own reusable bags or stores can offer a paper option for 10 cents each.
