You can tell by the way his son, OJ (Daniel Kaluuya), mutters through what’s clearly a refrain toward the start of Nope at a job he’s taken six months after Otis’s bizarre and disturbing death. OJ may be dedicated to maintaining his father’s legacy, but he’s no talker. When his little sister, Emerald (Keke Palmer), makes her late arrival, he immediately cedes the floor to her, and she picks up easily where her brother trailed off.
