{NAME}, We launched this campaign in May 2023. Since then, you’ve been asked over, and over, and over to make a contribution. We’ve set fundraising records, and yet, we’re still asking for more contributions. I know, it’s crazy…you deserve an explanation, {NAME}. Here are the two reasons why: 1.) CA-41 is one of the most expensive places to run in America. 78% of our voters (and many of the most persuadable) live in the Los Angeles market. To run a TV ad with enough repetition that it sticks with voters costs about $1 - $1.5 million. And that’s on top of all of the paid digital ads, mailers, radio ads, streaming ads, and field efforts we are investing in to reach voters wherever they are. 2.) Ken Calvert is the most senior Republican member of Congress who is vulnerable in 2024. That means that he can attract more outside support than virtually any of his colleagues. So far, Republican super PACs have invested $7.5 million in the general election to support him. That is hard to keep up with. I hope these metrics help reinforce why we still ask for contributions this late in the game. Our political system shouldn’t be this way, but until I get to Congress to fight for a reform agenda, we need to do whatever it takes to flip the 41st. [{NAME}, I’ll never treat you like an ATM or send you crazy 500%-MATCH emails. You deserve respect, and I hope this email has convinced you to make a contribution to the campaign today.
