Most of you know what Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did to John Kerry back in 2004. For those of you that don’t, the GOP engaged in a false, corrosive, disgusting campaign attacking John Kerry’s service in the Vietnam War. [VoteVets] {NAME} — Most of you know what Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did to John Kerry back in 2004. For those of you that don’t, the GOP engaged in a false, corrosive, disgusting campaign attacking John Kerry’s service in the Vietnam War. They did it because they could. They got away with it because they could. In doing so they maligned the service and honor of not just John Kerry, but all Veterans. Because if they come after one of us, they’re coming after all of us. The GOP is trying to do the same thing to Tim Walz right now. The same guy who led the Switfboaters in 2004 is literally Trump’s campaign manager. Seriously. But there is one, big difference this time: We are here. We are not going to let them do it. We are not going to let them get away with it. And we are certainly not going to sit by silently while Republicans spit on the service of millions of Veterans by attacking Tim Walz. The FACTS are that Tim Walz served for 24 years — reenlisting for four more years after 9/11 — and put in for retirement months before his unit ever received their notification of deployment. He was honorably discharged in May of 2005. His unit received their orders for deployment in July of 2005, and they deployed in March of 2006 — fully staffed, fully sourced. The FACTS are that the Minnesota National Guard has confirmed that Tim Walz was a Command Sergeant Major, and have emphasized that he can be referred to as Command Sergeant Major. ANYTHING ELSE — from the GOP, from Trump, from Vance, from the media — is dissembling. It's a distraction. It’s bullshit. Excuse the language, but this is important. These attacks are bullshit. Period. It’s going to take a massive team to fight back against them, though. Tim and Kamala need our help. We are their back up. And we need you now.
