4 days packed in an email [View online]( [Viva Technology June 11-14 2025 Paris]( Hi VivaTechers! Can you believe it's been almost a month since VivaTech 2024? But hey, that means we're only 12 months away from the next edition! In the meantime, let's relive the best moments with a series of recaps of some of the hottest topics in Tech covered during VivaTech. This week we're going into the world of AI. Have fun reading! Best, The VivaTech Team [VivaTech 2025]( Ethical AI and Its Challenges Speakers at Vivatech 2024 emphasized the ethical considerations of AI, the necessity of integrating AI with other fields, and the importance of rethinking societal structures as AI advances. Some warned against ventures that merely replicate existing technologies. They also highlighted AI's transformative potential while acknowledging the need for ethical considerations, more robust infrastructure, and inclusive policies. Approaches to AI Development and Adoption There were contrasting views on AI development strategies. Baidu's CEO, Robin Li, showcased China's practical, application-driven AI strategy, emphasizing the importance of data handling and engineering expertise. Meanwhile, Yann LeCun, Meta’s Chief AI Scientist, advocated for the open-source movement in AI, arguing that transparency and collaboration can accelerate AI innovation. Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange, discussed the substantial infrastructure demands of AI, advocating for a decentralized approach. Impact of AI on Societies and Industries AI's impact was also one of the main focus. Anne Bouverot of Ecole Normale Supérieure, advocated for making AI accessible to all and emphasized capacity building and inclusive AI education. Adobe's Scott Belsky noted a paradigm shift from productivity to creativity, driven by generative AI, and highlighted the enduring value of human-crafted content. There were other discussions on AI's role in perpetuating misinformation, with calls for improved media literacy and industry responsibility. Regulatory and Decentralization Perspectives The conference included contrasting global approaches to AI regulation, with the EU's AI Act and the US's focus on AI development discussed as examples. Calls for global cooperation and effective regulatory frameworks were emphasized. There was also a critique of the monopolistic control of AI by major US companies, with calls for decentralization and inclusive decision-making in AI development.
