Four times as many military personnel have died by suicide in the two decades since 9/11 compared to those who died in combat in post-9/11 conflicts. National PTSD Awareness Day, established in 2010, aims to address this crisis by educating the public, reducing stigma and providing crucial support. And with military suicide rates at an all-time high, and starting to surpass those of the civilian population, it's more important than ever to focus on our service members' mental health. The USO is committed to tackling PTSD through various programs, offering vital services that enhance the well-being of America's military community. We do this in many ways, including building specific USO Warrior and Family Centers that offer art and music therapy, yoga, cooking and other activities proven to reduce pain and anxiety. We bring USO Canine Program volunteers — therapy dogs and their trained handlers — to visit service members and their families at USO Centers all over the world. USO Centers are strategically placed in airports and military installations across the globe, offering a safe, supportive environment when our heroes need it most. In combat zones, USO Centers are a haven for service members on the front lines who simply need a place to think about anything other than the fact that they're deployed. The USO is the leading nonprofit organization supporting the well-being of active-duty service members and their families — and your gifts enable us to continue providing essential programs and services to those who bravely serve our country. [In honor of PTSD Awareness Day today, will you make a donation to stand with our heroes wherever they are in the world?]( Thank you for standing with our service members and their families.
