August 2024 ⢠American Liberty Gold Coin wins prestigious 2024 Coin of the Year! American Liberty Wins 2024 Coin of the Year! While everyone was watching the Olympics, the U.S. Mint brought home the grand prize in the international 2024 Coin of the Year competition! Each year Mints from around the world submit their best coins and a panel of 100 judges select the 10 best coins in 10 categories. The 2024 competition includes coins minted the previous year and not only did the 2023 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin⢠win its category of Best Gold Coin, it also won the top spot of 2024 Coin of the Year! The 2023 American Liberty High Relief Gold Proof Coin offers a different interpretation of liberty in this bold representation dubbed âThe Perseverance of American Liberty.â The obverse design features a bristlecone pine, a species native to California, Nevada, and Utah, thought to be the oldest living organisms on Earth, living up to 5,000 years. Bristlecone pines grow in places where other plants cannot and are often the species first to repopulate the land after cataclysmic changes, such as a lava run or glacial runoff. The stunning eagle on the reverse stands proudly on a rock outcropping moments before taking flight. We congratulate our talented artists and sculptors on this magnificent achievement! The stunning obverse was designed by Artistic Infusion Program Designer Elena Hagler and sculpted by Mint Chief Engraver Joe Menna while the striking reverse was designed and sculpted by Medallic Artist John P. McGraw. While this gold coin is currently in Remind Me Status, it is unlikely that inventory will be replenished but if youâd like to add this incredible design to your collection, the [2023 American Liberty Silver Medalâ¢]( is still available while inventory lasts.
