[View in browser]( Dear {NAME}, Have you ever wondered where your next meal will come from? Does the question of how you will afford food for your family weigh heavy on your mind? Many of our neighbors are struggling with food insecurity. They are living paycheck to paycheck just barely getting by, having to choose between food, rent, medical care, and utilities. This is a widespread reality, as hunger has increased, with close to one in ten of the world’s population facing hunger. United Ways across the globe are committed to making an ongoing, meaningful impact for neighbors struggling with food insecurity. We’re creating opportunities for everyone to have access to affordable, healthy meals. We work with community partners around the world to stock food pantries, provide students with nutritious meals when school is out, and even provide transportation for individuals to visit a food pantry to pick up essential food for their families. No family, child, or senior should ever go without meals. An example of this is the work of United Way of Greater Kansas City (UWGKC). Across their region, 1 in 11 neighbors face food insecurity. Accessing food assistance is consistently one of the top five most frequent requests taken by 211, the FCC-designated three-digit number that is supported by United Way and helps people find the local resources they need. Due to this high demand, UWGKC has expanded their partnership with local food pantries to meet the basic needs of people experiencing hunger and ensure shelves can stay stocked. One food pantry UWGKC supports is Cross-Lines Community Market. It is a unique food pantry that gives neighbors dignity in their time of need. The market is set up like a grocery store and shoppers are allocated a set amount of points based on household size to select items they need. "Everything's pretty expensive right now," said pantry visitor Mayra Maciel. "So this is truly a lot of help, knowing that there's something that's going to help us when we don't have the money to buy food for the kids." Read more about the ways United Way of Greater Kansas City is combatting food insecurity in our recent [blog post](. As we head into the holiday season, will you help us ensure our neighbors have a stocked pantry and the ability to reach a friendly 211 resource specialist to assist with meeting basic needs?
