Rising sea temperatures and storms have damaged coral reefs in the Florida Keys, threatening their ability to thrive. United Way supports coral relocation to encourage biodiversity and local reef restoration projects. It also offers scholarships in Marine studies to foster specialization in the area. This work is more than restoration – it's a full circle approach that creates youth opportunity, promotes financial security, and supports community resiliency.   [LEARN MORE](   Harnessing Renewable Energy in Long Island   In New York, United Way of Long Island's NET ZERO Energy Building Campaign provides essential skills training for needy populations while setting a new standard in renewable energy for non-profit organizations throughout the region. The project transforms their headquarters into a building that produces as much energy as it consumes and has one of the largest solar arrays of any not-for-profit commercial building in New York State.   [LEARN MORE](   Lowering Carbon Emissions in Upstate New York  The future is bright thanks to the innovation of United Way of the Southern Tier and Common Energy. Through a new partnership, they’re bringing lower cost clean energy to communities in upstate New York. Together, they’ll create a new 10% discount for New York State residents for up to 20 years while lowering emissions in the community at no cost.     It’s all about making their community an even better place to live.
