Watch Nightcrawler, starring a never-creepier Jake Gyllenhaal. Plus, Selena Gomez learns how to cook, an Australian comedy series warms your heart, and NBC helps you prepare for fall coronavirus season. Hello! Did you know that every week, TV Guide’s reviews and recommendations team compiles a rundown of all that week’s new Netflix releases, with most notable releases at the top but every release described to some degree? Basically, we watch all the screeners, or at least the trailers, and tell you what we think of them. Hopefully it helps you make a decision about what to watch, because it can feel impossible sometimes. [This week’s post is up]( and if you want to learn about what DeMarcus Family Rules is, check it out. Here are tonight’s TV picks. -[Liam]( [Your Watch This Now! newsletter is created by Senior Recommendations and Reviews Editor Tim Surette and more show-obsessed editors at TV Guide!]( WATCH THIS NOW! [Woman Reading]( [Yes, Selena + Chef]( Now on HBO Max Selena Gomez, like many people, has been using her time in quarantine to try to get better at cooking. Unlike many people, she got a TV deal and enlisted the help of acclaimed chefs to help teach her. The result is Selena + Chef, where the “Bad Liar” singer puts her beautiful kitchen to use while chefs watch in horror over video conference as she almost cuts her hand open while cutting into radish and sets fish on fire in the oven. Stars: They’re like us in some ways and very unlike us in others! Chef guests include Candice Kumai, pictured, who has had a successful career as a TV chef and cookbook author after competing on the first season of Top Chef back in 2006. [NBC News Special: Coronavirus in the Classroom has advice]( Thursday at 8/7c on NBC If you have children, you may be really worried and unsure about what to do about sending your kids back to school with the coronavirus still running rampant across the country. This news special may help. Lester Holt anchors an hour that finds NBC News correspondents, newsmakers, and public health and education experts sharing practical guidance for kids, parents, and teachers as they navigate the return to school during the pandemic. It will be nerve-wracking any way it happens, but the best way to prepare is to be informed. Stream Peacocke [Five Bedrooms, one heart]( Now on Peacock Peacock’s dramedy Five Bedrooms, with its heartfelt tone, high-concept premise, and polished visual style, seems like it could air on NBC proper. It would slot nicely after This Is Us. The catch is that it’s Australian, and licensed from Down Under’s Network 10. The show follows five single friends -- new friends who don’t even know each other that well, they met at the single’s table at a wedding -- who buy a house together, and then experience love, tragedy, and the ups and downs of homeownership as a group. And will at least two of them fall in love with each other? Of course! If Peacock is going to be a repository of NBC-style content from all over the world, we could be into it. Also, one of the show’s actors is named Stephen Peacocke, which is funny. Jake Gyllencrawl [Nightcrawler will make your skin crawl]( Now on Netflix Today is one of those days where there isn’t a ton of worthwhile new content to watch. So why not watch a movie that’s a few years old but just came back to Netflix the other day? If you haven’t seen Nightcrawler, hoo boy you’re in for a creepy treat. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, an alienated, sociopathic guy who starts working as a freelance crime scene videographer who sells his bloody footage to the local news station. As he gets better at the job, he keeps pushing ethical limits even further, and you don’t know what the next horrible thing he’ll do is. Gyllenhaal has never been more unsettling, and if you like dark underbelly of Los Angeles stories, this is a good one. [Unsubscribe]( | [View online]( ©2020 CBS Interactive | All Rights Reserved.
