WATCH THIS NOW
[Los Espookys is a weird, wonderful wildcard](
Friday on HBO at 11/10c
[Los Espookys]( undoubtedly become one of the few non-English-language shows that American viewers flock to. Created by [Fred Armisen]( after witnessing a thriving goth youth culture during a trip to Mexico City, the show is a surreal blend of fantastical and mundane, much in the style of his other hits, [Portlandia]( and [Documentary Now!]( Following a group of good-hearted, goth-obsessed twenty-somethings who stage fake horror events for a living, Los Espookys is wild, whimsical show that’s guaranteed to expand your definition of Latinx programming.
SCENE STEALERS
[Trinkets is your new YA obsession](
Now on Netflix
[Trinkets]( is the latest work of [Kiwi Smith]( the screenwriter of iconic movies such as [10 Things I Hate About You]( and [Legally Blonde](. Adapted from Smith’s YA novel of the same name, the show is about three drastically different teenage girls who have exactly one thing in common: They’re all in Shoplifters Anonymous. What follows is a story about unexpected connections that crescendos into a rousing battlecry for the strength found in female friendships. A must-see if you’re a fan of shows like [Sex Education](.
ZENDAYA IS ALL GROWN UP
[Euphoria is a *trip*](
Sunday on HBO at 9/8c
[Euphoria]( is not for the faint of heart. Starring [Zendaya]( as Rue, a high schooler junior returning home after a stint in rehab, the show takes a deep dive into how difficult it is to navigate the world as a teenager today. With instant gratifiction -- from sex to drugs to internet fame -- at their fingertips, Rue and her friends struggle to feel something real and medicate themselves after they try and fail. Without such a compelling cast, Euphoria could quickly become prurient and exploitative, but the way in which the actors steadily weave together these relationships elevate it to a show about Gen Z with [something smart to say](.
IT’S LAST CALL FOR THIS MARVEL SERIES
[Jessics Jones is finishing up her last drink](
Now on Netflix
Season 3 will be [Jessica Jones]( final bow. Played by [Krysten Ritter]( the super strong, super grumpy superhero is arguably the best of the Marvel Netflix collaborations. The first season not only delivered MCU’s best villain (Kilgrave, played by [David Tennan]( but also tackled sexual assault in complex way that no other Marvel property has attempted. Season 3 picks up with Jessica reeling from her mother’s death, trying to keep her best friend with newfound superpowers from doing reckless things, and battling a new villain with a vendetta against supers. Oh, there’s also new love interest (and fine piece of eye candy) headed Jessica’s way. Don’t miss the final chapter.
REMEMBER MILES TELLER?
[Too Old To Die Young is definitely going to spark some controversy](
Now on Amazon Prime
Too Old To Die Young is one of those shows you’ll either hate or you’ll love. A collaboration between comics legend [Ed Brubaker]( (known for both Marvel titles and indie works that repurpose the crime genre to probe the tropes of toxic masculinity) and [Nicolas Winding Refn]( (known for auteur arthouse cinema like [Drive]( the show focuses on an L.A. County sheriff ([Miles Teller]( and an FBI agent ([John Hawkes]( who murder rapists in acts of vilgilantism. Be warned: There’s a lot of graphic violence that’s hard to stomach, but there’s also an emotional payoff watching these two men fight against a collapsing, facist America.
