[A new buddy comedy from the creator of Happy Endings is raunchy fun, comedy’s best duo will help tuck you into bed, and a documentary about punk legends will let you meet the band without getting an elbow to the throat.](#)

Hello!
We wanted to tell you about a show that didn’t make our list of picks tonight, but needs to be on your radar for just how crazy it is. The world of anime has no limits, but the premise of Netflix’s new animated import [Back Street Girls: Gokudols]( makes some of Japan’s wildest tentacle-y ideas seem tame by comparison. In it, three Yakuza — members of Japanese organized crime — are sentenced by their boss to pay for their misdeeds by [brace yourself] getting sex changes in order to become an all-female pop band. And they do, and they’re successful. It’s obvious we haven’t even reached the tip of Peak TV. Here are tonight’s TV picks:

Series premieres Wednesday on YouTube Premium
The news that Comedy Central canceled the wonderful comedy [Detroiters]( is only slightly mitigated by the fact that we can still see star [Sam Richardson]( be his charming, sheepish self in this new series. Along with [Adam Pally]( Richardson plays a member of a rapper’s entourage whose life is wrecked when the rapper dies while filming a particularly garish video. Entitled, spoiled and without any talent of their own, the two friends must now try to make a living with nothing handed to them, and, of course, they screw it all up. It’s from [David Caspe]( the creator of the beloved [Happy Endings]( so it’s got some pedigree, too.

Now on Netflix
Now that the [No Friends on Netflix Crisis of 2018]( has been averted, it’s time to reward the streamer for its decision by mainlining as much Friends-adjacent content as possible. You could listen to [David Schwimmer]( play a giraffe in [Madagascar 2]( or you could watch this uplifting new film starring [Jennifer Aniston](. She plays a former Texas pageant queen whose plus-sized daughter challenges preconceptions about body image by entering a beauty pageant, making for an underdog feel-good movie that comes at the right time of year. It also has a soundtrack from [Dolly Parton]( giving it a fun, honkytonk vibe that’ll ward off the thoughts of shoveling snow for at least a week.

Hyper ball of wise-cracking energy [Ken Jeong]( goes right up Christmas’ wazoo to uncover the meaning of the holiday in the half-hour special Ken Jeong Cracks Christmas. [Get in the pit with Agnostic Front: Godfathers of Hardcore](
Wednesday at 10/9c on Showtime
Showtime’s four-night run of rock ‘n’ roll documentaries continues with an award-winning movie focused on one of hardcore’s legendary acts, New York City’s Agnostic Front. Bands, and the tension within them, always make good subjects for films, but the history behind this punk outfit that’s been going strong for more than 30 years packs Godfathers of Hardcore with entertainment. It’s the best way to get to know Agnostic Front without being drenched in hairy dudes’ sweat.

[Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly](
[Let Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly tuck you in](
Wednesday at 11:35/10:35c on ABC
Whether they’re stepbrothers or racing teammates, [Will Ferrell]( and [John C. Reilly]( are the comedy duo most likely to make you laugh milk out of your nose. They’re stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to talk about their upcoming film Holmes and Watson, and we’d advise that you don’t take a sip of anything while they’re there. And given the difficulties our president has already had this week, [Jimmy Kimmel]( is sure to have some jokes at the ready, or maybe he’ll just stand there with his arms out saying, “Seriously?” over and over again.
