Recently, Donald Trump blasted CNN, the latest media network to incur the president’s wrath. His solution to the mainstream press, which he deems the enemy of the people, is a state-owned "Worldwide Network." Sure, CNN is not without its faults -- recently, it fired contributor Marc Lamont Hill for speaking up on behalf of the Palestinian plight during a speech to the United Nations. But neither the US nor the rest of the world deserves to be afflicted with Trump's proposed mouthpiece for fascism. Unlike most mainstream media, Truthout is not afraid to confront the issues all too often viewed as the "third rail." Whether it's uplifting the voices of Palestinians themselves or exposing the evils of the Trump administration, we work nonstop to provide news and analysis that is neither influenced by the government nor corporate advertisers. Truthout has delivered on this commitment throughout 2018, and -- [with your help]( -- we will continue to provide a platform in 2019 for the voices that would otherwise be silenced by the state or mainstream media. So if you value independent, non-governmental news, please give what you can to support Truthout tonight. [Donate Now]( [Click here to make a donation]( (Truthout is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
