[Israel Illegally Enshrines Apartheid in Its "Basic Law"](
Marjorie Cohn, Truthout: The Israeli Knesset's new "Basic Law," which has the force of a constitutional amendment, enshrines a system of apartheid and strips away any pretense that Israel is a democracy. It states that the "right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people" and refuses to guarantee the self-determination of the 1.8 million Arabs who make up 20 percent of Israel's population.

[Big Pharma Cozies Up to Trump as He Moves to Lower Drug Prices](
Mike Ludwig, Truthout: After facing harsh criticism from President Trump, several drug companies announced price freezes last week that advocates say amount to little more than a PR stunt designed to gain favor with the White House. As the Trump administration hunts for ways to fulfill a major promise to voters and lower drug prices, the pharmaceutical industry is pushing policies that protect its bottom line.

[Trump Put Corporate Profits Over Babies' Health. Are We Surprised?](
Alison Rose Levy, Truthout: After repeatedly placing corporate profits over human health and well-being by undoing or blocking protections, the Trump administration sank to new lows this month when it blocked a UN resolution denouncing false marketing of breast milk substitutes. While the benefits of breast milk are irrefutable, what is now equally irrefutable is this administration's desire for profit at any cost, even while endangering the lives of the most vulnerable.

["Prostitution-Related" Loitering Ordinance Promotes Racial Profiling in Chicago](
Andrea J. Ritchie and Brit Schulte, Truthout: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel should veto a new "prostitution-related" loitering ordinance that will give police carte blanche to profile Black, Brown, trans and queer people -- and is likely unconstitutional. Moreover, the ordinance will only perpetuate the conditions it claims to correct by imposing fines on people who are already trading sex to meet basic survival needs.

[As Support for Progressive Agenda Grows, Sanders Says "Big Money Interests" and Corporate Democrats "Should Be Scared"](
Jake Johnson, Common Dreams: As Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders rallied thousands behind two progressive congressional candidates in Kansas last week, around 250 corporate Democrats and Third Way strategists gathered behind closed doors in Ohio. These two meetings represent divergent trends in the Democratic Party -- one backed by corporate cash and the other backed by the public.

[Like Richard Nixon, Donald Trump Has Created an Enemies List](
Heather Digby Parton, Salon: It appears that Donald Trump is taking a page from Richard Nixon's playbook and wants the government to harass and prosecute his enemies in the media. The difference between Nixon and Trump is that Nixon at least had the sense to abuse his power in secret.

[How the PROSPER Act Could Negatively Impact LGBTQ Students](
Timothy R. Bussey, The Conversation: The PROSPER Act, a bill to reauthorize and overhaul key elements of higher education law, could be brought for a vote in the House of Representatives any day now. However, few have discussed the potential impact of this bill on LGBTQ students, especially in regard to affordability and safety.

[Trump Continues to Use the Presidency to Benefit His Properties](
Robin Marty, Care2: Is the Trump family benefiting financially from the presidency through its properties? That question could easily be answered with a peek at some filed tax returns. Unfortunately, President Trump still refuses to release this information. And now things are becoming even more suspect as a number of Trump properties have mysteriously stopped paying their tax bills on time.

[Entering a 1984 World, Trump-Style: Implementing the Sino-Russian Blueprint for a Tripolar World Order](
Michael T. Klare, TomDispatch: An examination of Donald Trump's campaign speeches and his actions since entering the Oval Office reflect his adherence -- conscious or not -- to a core strategic concept: the urge to establish a tripolar world order. This blueprint was first envisioned by Russian and Chinese leaders in 1997 and has been pursued by leaders of these countries ever since.
