These are tumultuous times, and as a nation we are bound by opposition. On one side are people espousing the virtues of a past long dead, boasting the desire to rewind the clock and return our county to some supposedly "greater" time. On the other are everyday people, fighting for a voice, for acceptance, for a fraction of their constitutional rights. Both sides are in discord, but truth always rings through the cacophony.
The current administration has boasted and blared their proverbial horns as loudly as possible, yet each day we are presented with more information that exposes the cracks in their ill-formed foundation. Despite all of the treachery we have endured this past year, we have also seen that a foundation built on lies and deceit cannot be maintained.
As Robert Mueller's investigation continues, this administration has set out to take its final stabs at everyday Americans. They passed a tax reform that adversely affects millions of Americans; they repealed net neutrality; they decimated the EPA; they continue to rail against immigrants and promote hate groups. However, despite all of the injustice, we continue to fight.
Truthout may be a relatively small news outlet, but we have a mighty voice. I am continually awed by the strength and conviction of this staff, who work tirelessly to share your stories, expose injustice, and to ensure that the truth is being told.
