JOIN OUR FREE LIVE TRADING SESSION!]( Hello investor, Fed Officials Insist on More Data Before Cutting Rates We are back in business. After a day off yesterday, the stock market will be open today with Nvidia leading the pack. Investors flocked to AI stocks in the last few weeks, pushing the S&P 500 to new highs. Some data indicated slowing consumer spending, but it hasn’t done anything to the sentiment on Wall Street. Big Tech continues to grow. The USA remains the most investable place with geopolitical uncertainties around the world. Scott Chronert at Citi pointed out that smaller businesses may be struggling. It is not reflected in the market. Generative AI delivered phenomenal growth for Nvidia. Apple is poised to see higher iPhone switches once it launches the new iPhone models with new AI products. - “Is it any surprise that we continue to argue that Wall Street (i.e., SP 500) is beating to a different drum than is Main Street (underlying US economy)?” Citi head of U.S. equity strategy Scott Chronert wrote.. “No doubt, the generative AI influence as an ongoing incremental growth driver is permeating the US equity environment right now.” Citi head of U.S. equity strategy Scott Chronert (Photo: CNBC) What if investors believe the market is due for a pullback? Thomas Fitzpatrick reminds that “the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.” - ″[The AI theme] has a very 2000-2001′esque feel, but as we know the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent,” said Thomas Fitzpatrick, managing director at R.J. O’Brien and Associates. “A day of reckoning will come but [it’s] hard to stand in the way of a speeding train.” We will get initial jobless claims, housing starts and building permits today at 8:30am. Tomorrow, services and manufacturing PMI data will be out, along with existing home sales data. Wall Street will digest these data points to see if the soft landing theme remains the base case. - “We are in a soft landing scenario, central banks have started easing policy or will start to ease soon, and we may be facing a wave of positive productivity shock thanks to technology,” said Benoit Anne, head of investment solutions at MFS Investment Management. “Put all that together and you have a very supportive environment for global equities.” Fed officials’ messages: Many Fed Reserve officials spoke on Tuesday. Their message was uniformed. More data is necessary before deciding on when to cut interest rates. Many of them still expect to cut this year. Notably, St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem said it could take “quarters” for the data to help the Fed feel confident in cutting rates. - "I will need to observe a period of favorable inflation… These conditions could take months, and more likely quarters to play out,” said Alberto Musalem. Boston Fed President Susan Collins also said that it is critical not to “overreact to a month or two of promising news.” So, the market may not have a convincing picture for many weeks ahead. Young Med-Tech Firm Holds A Monopoly With A Strong Growth Rate Today’s Stock Pick: IRadimed Corporation (IRMD) Have you taken an MRI before? The MRI is a critical medical imaging technology to visualize vital organs, bodily functions and identify blockages, abnormalities and growths. The uses for MRI are nearly endless. (Image: Cleveland Clinic) However, it does have one drawback. MRI scanners use powerful magnets that prohibit almost any use of medical devices made with magnetic components, such as metals. - What’s more, if the device is made with iron, it could become airborne projectiles -- flying around the room and posing risks to patients and doctors. MRI procedures have shot up in the last two decades, but incidents also rose disproportionately -- with a 525% increase in incidents versus 150% increase in MRI procedures. In fact, two recent deaths were reported to FDA due to airborne projectiles: (Source: IRadimed March 2021 Investor Presentation) Also, the presence of electronic instruments nearby also may harm MRI imaging quality. How do doctors avoid metal projectile incidents? Hospitals often remove patients from infusion pumps and vital signs monitors during MRI procedures. - An infusion pump delivers fluids, such as nutrients and medications, into a patient's body in controlled amounts. - A vital signs monitor tracks four primary vital signs in a human body: body temperature, blood pressure, pulse (heart rate), and breathing rate Infusion pumps (left) and vital signs monitor (right) (Photos: NavyMedicine, left, and Getty/Korawig, right) However, this approach is problematic: - Critically ill patients should not be removed from IV medications for even a few minutes -- may deteriorate rapidly if pain, cardiac distress, breathing problems or other dangerous signs go undetected by vital signs monitors. And there are several other reasons why removing both devices for an MRI scan can be dangerous. Enter IRadimed. Roger Susi, the founder of the company, invented the first MRI-compatible patient monitoring system in 1986 and the first non-magnetic MRI-compatible IV infusion system in 2004. What does this mean? - Its non-magnetic vital signs monitor and IV infusion system makes it safe for a patient to undergo an MRI scan while keeping these devices running. The devices have a non-magnetic motor and other special components that enable safe use during MRI scans. Through patents, IRadimed (IRMD) is the only provider of portable MRI Patient Monitor and IV Infusion Pump. (Source: IRadimed March 2021 Investor Presentation) While iRadimed is still a young company ($65.6 million revenue in 2023), its market dominance shows with its gross margin at an absurd number of ~76% in the last 5 years. It enjoys a durable competitive moat since any competitor will have to go through FDA’s strict regulations before a competing product can go public. (Source: IRadimed ) Breathtaking growth. The business has hit an inflection point. The company struggled during the pandemic years, but the growth has been back on the track, as you can see the graphic below: (Source: MacroTrends) Not a debt-fueled growth. The company has several growth drivers -- such as higher market penetration, new products, M&A, and expanding international markets. And best of all, it is not fueled by debt. It has a total debt of only $1.94 million -- versus a total cash of $45.13 million. Plus, its current ratio is 9.44 Small common shares outstanding. This is key. When a company has a slim number of shares available, it creates the perfect environment for an explosive share run-up. The reason is simple: Demand and supply. When a company shows a big growth, more institutional investors would want to get involved. - But iRadimed only has 12.66 million shares outstanding. There’s little supply to go around, and the demand is sure to rise if iRadimed achieves its goal of tripling its revenue within five years through its dominant product lines. Best of all, 37% of the company is owned by the insiders, making them a shareholder-oriented company. Your dollar is also their dollar. So, they have skin in the game and are wonderfully incentivized to maximize the company’s value. Bottom line: The company has all the attractive traits. Low debt. High profit margins. Strong growth rates. High barrier of entry. This is an excellent stock to own. [EARN WHILE YOU LEARN!
