Either that or people are still a little hungover from the weekend, I can’t tell. Whatever it is, I’m ready for someone to take me to Bora Bora so I can stare into a volcano and think about everything I’d like to have happen this year and everything I wish hadn’t happened last. Feel free to reach out if you have any hook-ups. In lieu of that, I will watch an obscure detective series and stare out at the sea in Red Hook, pretending I’m waiting for a ship to dock. The other night I saw identical twin influencers wearing the same outfits (vaguely goth glam puff dresses and bedazzled headbands) going live in an outdoor dining shed in the East Village in front of a dumpling place surrounded by giant holiday trash bags, so I guess that’s something to aspire to. It’s time to turn to the stories. First we have one about going on a safari in India, then one about the spicy noodle soup from Xi’an Famous Foods, then one about flights to inexpensive Iceland (and other spots in Europe), then one about a hack that we learned about from TikTok to help you get money back on a canceled flight, and finally, the alcohol trends we are looking forward to this year. Have a wonderful Thursday! [Ned Riseley, Senior Copywriter]( [ [( travel [] [The Hills Have Leopards: Exploring India on a Safari]( If you’re looking for a way to really up the ante on winter travel, be sure to read this article about going on safari in India, and either plan your own trip or just imagine what it would be like to wander through the leopard-filled hills of the beautiful region of Jawai. The hills are alive with… so many leopards, and not just leopards. So many birds, crocodiles, and other animals abound. Jawai is a rarer, less crowded and touristy destination, with a beautiful landscape and fascinating history. [] [Learn more]( [( [( Food & drink [] [A Spicy Tingly Noodle Soup for What Ails You]( We chatted with founder and CEO of Xi’an Famous Foods, Jason Wang, about one of the most popular items on the menu, the Longevity Noodles. They’re spicy, they’re tingly, they are so outrageously delicious and comforting, you won’t be able to get enough. And the best part is, we’ve got the recipe, so you can make it yourself without getting self-conscious about the fact that you’re ordering them again. Fire up the bone broth, get out your Sichuan peppercorns, and get to work. [] [Noodle time]( [( *Sponsored Ads List [( travel [] [Play Airlines Wants to Send You to Iceland]( All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, as they say, and now Play, an Icelandic budget airline that could get you over the Atlantic at 23% off. Get it? ‘Cause it’s 2023. I didn’t get it for a minute. An added joy is that Play is already a really inexpensive airline, so you could be paying a criminally low fee for a ticket. Again, Play is a real budget airline, so it’s basically like taking the bus of the sky, and might mean that you have to pay extra for wearing shoes, or have to sit on someone’s lap in-flight, but that could be kind of fun! We’ve got a money lawyer on the case, and she’s going to help you find justice for the travel hell you lived through this past holiday season.
