Since then, I've managed to achieve Executive Platinum status, the airline's highest published tier of loyalty, by earning a ton of [Loyalty Points](. So what makes American status so great? With access to preferred seating on Oneworld flights and complimentary access to many first-class lounges, Oneworld Emerald (which comes with Executive Platinum status) has been a game changer on my international flights. Put simply, I’ve bid farewell to pesky Lufthansa advance seat fees and welcomed luxurious Oneworld lounges like the Qantas first-class lounge at LAX. [American and Alaska Airlines also expanded their partnership]( which means American elite members have perks on Alaska. Executive Platinum members get Alaska first-class upgrades just after MVP 75K elite members on non-saver economy fares. They can also get three checked bags and free same-day flight changes on Alaska. But best of all, [American’s miles are still super valuable](. For now, partner sweet spots remain intact despite the retirement of Web Specials and MileSAAver awards. Qatar Airways Qsuite offers flights from the [U.S. to the Middle East and South Asia for 70,000 miles]( Finnair has business-class flights from the [U.S. to Europe for 57,500 miles]( and Japan Airlines’ first-class flights from the [U.S. to Japan cost just 80,000 miles](. Meanwhile, United Airlines charges over 120,000 miles for one-way ANA first-class flights on the same route. And don’t forget — AAdvantage members can use their miles for top seats like Qatar Qsuite and Etihad Airways business class, while United Airlines' MileagePlus and Delta Air Lines' SkyMiles members can't.
