Also: World Series bets cost Caesars Palace big [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Nov 10, 2022 SPONSORED BY [TPG] HOW TO TRAVEL DURING THE HOLIDAYS AND NOT LOSE YOUR COOL Believe it or not, Thanksgiving here in the U.S. is only two weeks away. It seems like we only just stopped talking about the extraordinary levels of summer travel demand, and now holiday travel surges are fast approaching. Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said this week that he’s anticipating more than 5 million passengers over Thanksgiving week. All the major hotel CEOs over the last few weeks similarly anticipated travel demand soaring through the end of this year. Long story short: Planes and hotels will be packed, and airfare and room rates will be high. [Flight prices for the week of Christmas]( were pacing about 40% above 2021 levels last month. Travel bargains might be hard to come by, but we can’t stress this enough: Book as soon as you can if you haven’t already. Travel costs are likely only going to go up the closer you get to the holidays. Additionally, TPG recommends checking alternative travel dates (arrive early and stay with family a little longer — more time for holiday leftovers!) or flying on the holiday itself. Also, don’t forget to check for award availability during holiday weeks — but spend those points wisely. You can [use the TPG calculator]( to determine if it is better to pay with points or cash. One last piece of advice? Pack your patience and be as prepared as possible. Looking for more holiday travel tips?
