Also: Tour Walt Disney's apartment — for a hefty price [The Points Guy]( WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY Nov 2, 2022 SPONSORED BY [TPG] WANT A TRAVEL BARGAIN? GO INTERNATIONAL Halloween is over, and that means the holiday season is upon us. That also often means travel deals within the U.S. are about as easy to find as a Tickle Me Elmo during the Black Friday sales of 1996. Sorry, readers — I might be dating myself here. Here are a few of my own personal examples: $400 a night appears to be the new normal for New York City hotels on a weekend. That’s generally what I find when looking to book various weekend trips through the end of the year. A flight from Boston to Pensacola, Florida, to go see my mom the week before Thanksgiving came to $700 — only $80 less than flights I’m pricing out for a conference in France in early December. Based on reports I’m seeing from TPG readers, my $700 fare is a bargain compared to those looking to go to places like South Florida and Southern California — and [hotel companies don’t appear to be slowing down]( on rate hikes, either. Want to find out where the deals are? Look outside the U.S. The dollar is strong against many currencies at the moment, making hotel stays a bargain (just check out my reviews of the [Gleneagles Townhouse]( and [Virgin Edinburgh]( to see how exchange rates made a trip to Scotland less expensive than I originally budgeted). Further, winter isn’t known for being a peak travel season for places like Europe — that can lead to pretty good deals on airfare. Check out a few of the stories I’ve used to map out some last-minute travel steals lately: - [Europe deal alert: Round-trip flights under $500]( - [Get more from your points with these transfer bonuses]( - [How to use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 annual travel credit to save on your winter trip]( That’s all from me for today.
