I'm still recovering from last week's jam-packed week of PC news. Microsoft released an AI-powered copy-paste tool last week. That was one of the smallest stories alongside Microsoft's [Copilot+ PC announcement](), but it reminded me about other copy-paste tricks built into Windows. These features are very convenient and don't involve AI at all. But let's be honest: Microsoft will probably add AI to them in the future. ⌚ This entire email will take you two minutes to read. Remember: If you'd rather not receive these Monday tip roundups, [you can easily opt out of them](=) without affecting the rest of your subscription. ☑ [Got it — don't show this again](=) This week's reader suggestion 📋 Forget AI-powered copy-paste: Windows has some other intelligent copy-paste options that not enough people know about. The Clipboard History tool in Windows isn't just a useful productivity tool — it's an especially useful tool for inserting everything from an animated GIF to Japanese emoticon of a character flipping a table. 💻 This works on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. ➜ This week's reader-submitted tip comes from Windows Intelligence reader Luka, who recommends the Clipboard History tool built into Windows. Just press Windows+V to open it. If you haven't given Windows permission to keep your clipboard history, you'll be prompted to do so. You can "pin" things you copy to your clipboard for easy access in the future or use the "..." button to find an option to paste formatted text you pasted as plain text. On Windows 11, this little Clipboard pane has a lot more to offer: 🔟 Using Windows 10? Press Windows+. or Windows+; (that's a period or a semicolon) to find most of the below tools instead. - An emoji insertion pane for inserting everything from 🙂 to 🐶 - A kaomoji insertion pane so you can easily insert things like this: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ - A symbol insertion pane so you can quickly find and insert symbols without pulling up that old Character Map window. - An animated GIF search tool and lets you quickly insert animations in a wide variety of apps with a single click. (This animated GIF tool is only on Windows 11.) [The animated GIF search tool built into Windows 11.] Clipboard History is powerful: You can even sync your PC's clipboard between devices. Head to Settings > System > Clipboard to find settings for controlling all this stuff. You'll then have access to your clipboard from other Windows PCs you're signed into with your Microsoft account — and Android devices you use Microsoft's SwiftKey keyboard on. In the future, I expect Microsoft to add AI features to this Clipboard tool as well. That [Advanced Paste PowerToy]( just looks like a tech demo for what's to come. But, I imagine you'll be able to turn all this stuff off if you want, too -- just like you don't have to use the Clipboard History tool today. 🤝 Looking for this week's Android Intelligence reader tip? It's [an out-of-sight enhancement for smarter Android sharing](), and now, it's officially shared with you. 💡 Got a useful tip you'd like to share with other Windows enthusiasts? [Submit it here](=) — or just reply to this email and share it with me! I'd love to feature your useful advice in a future newsletter. --------------------------------------------------------------- Some tips you don't want to miss Now, a rapid-fire summary of the best useful tips from our most recent issues — just in case you overlooked something or haven't explored it yet! 🔎 Make Google search only the web — no AI: Google quietly rolled out an amazing new "Web" search option — it restores Google to the traditional list of links I fell in love with decades ago. Just perform a Google search and click "Web." Here's [how to make this your default search experience in Chrome on a PC](). (Use another browser? [Check out this guide instead](=).) ⌨️ Upgrade your Alt+Tab experience: Alt+Tab is more than just Alt+Tab. You can use Alt+Shift+Tab to Alt+Tab in reverse, as well as use the arrow keys and Enter keys to switch windows. Plus, the mouse works in Alt+Tab: You can click a window thumbnail to select it, or click the "X" to close a window. Or, click a window thumbnail with the middle mouse button to quickly close it. Give these tricks a try! 🤖 Try a powerful AI-powered copy-and-paste tool: Microsoft [PowerToys]( now includes an AI-powered "[Advanced Paste](" tool. With PowerToys installed, press Windows+Shift+V to open it. You can paste as plain text or in Markdown formatting — but, for now, you'll need to do some of your own setup to access the AI features. 📽️ Video conferencing just got better: Choppy audio, blurry faces — do your virtual meetings feel too… virtual? Now you can see and hear in stunning 4k with [the all new Neat Bar 2](=). The Neat Bar 2 automatically adjusts acoustics and framing — based on the # of attendees — and is so intuitive, you’ll forget it’s a virtual meeting. Check out these other [tips for getting AI summaries of YouTube videos and searching through every word inside them](=). 📻 Search the transcript of any YouTube video on Android: It's strangely hit and miss, but you can always find and then sometimes search through the transcript of any video in the Android YouTube app. Just tap the "...more" link directly beneath the video's title while it's playing, then scroll down in the panel that pops up until you see the Show Transcript button. 🦸 Grant yourself Android search superpowers: Why stop with the web and YouTube? You can save yourself all sorts of wasted time by adding a streamlined search mecca onto your phone or tablet's home screen — a simple single spot where you can find everything from apps, contacts, and calendar events to notes, tasks, and even past searches.
