THE STATE OF TEXAS
The Report
San Antonio police [released a report]( that they say details how an unarmed teen was shot and killed by an officer earlier this month. According to the report, Officer Steve Casanova, a five-year veteran of the force, and another officer were responding to a report of assault. Casanova noticed that the door to the home was open and that two men were inside. One of the men opened the door and was, according to the report, "immediately aggressive" towards the officer, who said he spotted a handgun in the man's waistband. Casanova said that he feared for his life and shot the man, piercing him in the buttocks and striking another man, Charles Roundtree, in the chest and killing him. "They killed my son, cold blood," said Patricia Slack, Roundtree's mother.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
Check your tickets, San Antonio. A [$3 million lottery ticket]( for Tuesday night’s Mega Millions was sold in the city. The ticket was one of 36 second prize tickets across the country in the massive $1.537 billion jackpot—the biggest in the history of Mega Millions—which was finally won by some lucky sonufagun in South Carolina. But we've got $3 million floating around here in our fine state, so if you see the white balls 5, 28, 62, 65, and 70 on your ticket, get to a corner store now! Perhaps you'd like to share a bit of it with your favorite National Magazine of Texas?
Robot Brothel Ban
Three weeks after the Houston City Council promptly halted plans for a sex robot brothel, [Harris County is following suit](. Harris County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to ban "robot brothels" from opening within the county lines. Earlier this month, a Canadian company wanted to open a "love dolls brothel" in Houston, but instead the city changed its ordinances on sexually-oriented businesses. Aside from the original offender, no one has expressed interest in building any such establishment in Harris County. They're just preemptively saying "no thanks."
