--------------------------------------------------------------- IN FOCUS In today's newsletter, we spotlight: - [What Redditâs IPO success means for the tech winter](
- Southeast Asiaâs funding landscape --------------------------------------------------------------- Hello {NAME} I look back at the 2020 to 2022 period with a bit of nostalgia. For the startup community in Southeast Asia, those were some really exciting years. Startup funding was reaching new highs, Grab had gone public in a record-setting SPAC deal, other firms like GoTo and PropertyGuru had followed suit, and it felt like Southeast Asiaâs tech scene was finally coming of age. What we didnât know then was that winter was coming. The latter part of 2022 was when the chill started creeping in, and for the past year or so, weâve all been knee-deep in the snow. Fortunately, the spring thaw might be upon us - if the excellent performance of Redditâs stock market debut is any indicator. However, things are unlikely to go back to the way they were, and a new era of sustainable growth and profitability may be here. -- Stefanie
