The latest news from FineWoodworking.com - July 3rd, 2021 [View in Browser]( [Fine Woodworking Logo]( [Subscribe]( Hello, {EMAIL}! [Simple Circle-Cutting Jig]( John White. I've never met the man, but I'd like to buy him a taco or a beer sometime. Between you and me, I can click on a John White video and the next thing I know a half-hour has passed and I'm dreaming up all of the jigs I can build to make my shop time more efficient. It's a good thing that is part of my job! Having been able to use many of John's legendary builds–such as his [wired workbench]( and [ultimate router table]( can attest that his designs are as functional as they are clever. The woodworking world is full of over-engineered doodads, but it takes a truly great designer and a smart engineer to accept simplicity when simple best serves the cause. John's builds are as complicated as they need to be. No more, no less. Take for example the circle-cutting jig above. It's simple, easy to build, and probably more effective than most other circle-cutting jigs. It's the subtle refinements (such as the overhang on the back side; [watch the video, you'll see]( that take John's jigs to the next level. So take my advice, watch some of [great shop project videos of John White's]( and if you're like me, you'll be entranced enough that you'll swear you can smell the Baltic-birch dust in the air and feel a drywall screw in your hand! Thanks for spending part of your weekend with us. Have fun in the shop!
