Seeking Wisdom: From Darwin to Munger by Peter Bevelin. That’s what I was reading the other day just before bed. Somebody asked me, “Hey Tai, how should you focus? What should your daily routine be?” I’ll tell you this… Depending on who you listen to, you can get a whole bunch of advice. “You need to get healthy.” “You need to eat right.” “You need to get a six pack.” “You need to pursue money.” You have all these things you might hear. But, Confucius said, “The man who chases two rabbits winds up with none.” So I’ll tell you what a friend told me, because if you’re not careful in life, you’re not going to get anything done. There’s too much to do, you know. If you’re like me, you probably get busy. Like right now. I wanted to email this lesson to you a while ago, but I just got to it now. I was talking to my business partner Alex and he came up with this term, “atomic use case”. Funny thing, I was like, “Where the hell did you learn that from?” He said, “I don’t know I just made it up.” “You basically focus on this one thing and by doing it, everything else just lines up.” It’s kind of like dominoes. You just use energy to push the initial domino and everything else falls in succession automatically. So what’s the one thing you need to focus on so that you can improve what I call the “4 Pillars Of The Good Life: Health, Wealth, Love, and Happiness”? The answer comes from this book: Seeking Wisdom. Wisdom is common sense. And common sense isn’t so common anymore. If you get wisdom, you’ll know what to believe about being healthy. There are a lot of these diet fads out there and you’d be able to know which one truly works for you. With wisdom, you’d also know about what to believe about being wealthy. There are all these get-rich-quick schemes floating around the internet, but there’s also real courses that work. And I’m not saying everyone needs to be a billionaire to be happy. That’s not practical. But, I believe financial independence is achievable by everybody. If you’re in a western country with democracy, you should be able to make it. You have to have that wisdom… some common sense. Like I said, common sense isn’t so common. You don’t learn it in school. It’s like the late Jim Rohn said, “Formal education will make you a living, but self-education will make you a fortune.” Think about what that means and the practicality of that. He basically means this… You go through the public school system. You go through the average upbringing. Now, I don’t know how you were brought up, but curiosity is killed young. It’s killed by parents who say to stop asking so many questions and tell you to believe whatever they believe. It’s killed by the school system that doesn’t have the right time or curriculum for you. Curiousity is the precursor to wisdom. You’ve got to be curious to be wise. If you see a car, you’ve got to want to be able to open it up and look inside the hood and understand how the engine works. If you don’t have that, any mechanic can rip you off. And that’s how most people’s life becomes, because they get ripped off since they don’t understand. They don’t understand how their engine works. They get ripped off by mechanics and dealerships. They don’t understand how psychology works. In business and life, you’ve got to know how to read people. They don’t understand how the economy works. You’ve got to know how to invest and make extra income through things like stocks and real estate. You’ve got to know about persuasion and sales so you can show people your side of the story and do it convincingly enough that they believe you. Part of the reason why I made some of my businesses around online education (like my 67 Steps, my Social Media Marketing Agency program where I teach people how to start their own marketing agency and generate $1k-$10k/month, my Real Estate programs where I teach things like how to make active or passive incomes in real estate, or my E-Commerce programs where I teach people how to sell common household objects online) is because I realized it’s not out there. Unless you read a lot of books. And most people don’t even have a lot of time to read books. So it becomes very tricky in the modern world to get this wisdom. Because most people aren’t wise. Most people don’t take the time. Most people’s curiosity has been killed. So you’ve got to revive it in yourself. I was with Grant Cardone the other day and he interviewed me on his channel. I saw how he was running his business and he was making a lot of money out there. And one thing that stuck out to me is that for you to be able to accomplish that, you’ve got to be smart. Grant’s been learning for years and it’s paying off for him. For you, at the end of the day if you don’t have common sense and wisdom, even if you do make a lot of money, you’ll lose it. You know the average lottery winner is broke 5-6 years later. In the NFL for professional football athletes, some people call it “Not For Long”, because you’re either injured early from playing or you don’t keep your money for long because you don’t know how to manage it and invest it. You have to know what’s under the hood of life. You have to be curious and know a little about life. You’ve got to know a little bit of sales and persuasion. You have to know about public speaking. You have to know about psychology, business, social media, and marketing. The days of TV advertisements, radio commercials, and yellow pages are over. This is all disappearing. I’m reaching you right now because of social media. And you can do the same thing when you have an idea, or a business plan, or a new product and you want to reach a lot of people. But it’s not so simple that all you have to do is go on to social media and go post something. Millions of people post on social media and there’s a good chance nobody will see it. So that means you’ve got to do a little bit of studying. I’m not just talking about flipping open a book and answering some questions and doing a pop quiz. I’m not talking about high school, college, or night school if you’re an adult. I’m saying common sense is not common. Can you do the practical stuff? Most of the time what we need to know is a lot simpler than what we make of it. Another thing, part of seeking wisdom is not making yourself 100% available to everyone all the time. Wisdom is understanding most people are never going to get with the program. Some people are fools and you don’t want to surround yourself with fools. Like my Social Media Marketing Agency program I have for example. I’ve got people in there making between $10,000-$60,000 a month after they’ve gone through my course. Not everyone does that obviously, but it is possible. And one guy was only 21. So it's not that exceptional. So what happens when I open it up for new people to get in? Of course, some people are skeptical. If you have wisdom, you know when to open up and figure out when to be optimistic versus pessimistic. Sometimes you must be cynical, but too much cynicism closes the door on opportunities. People don’t get that. There’s a balance. Sometimes it’s wise to be cynical because you might get ripped off. You’ve got to be able to discern and tell the difference. That’s common sense, A.K.A wisdom. So when I close down these programs and people ask me when I’m going to open them back up, they think I’m joking but I’m serious. I do it on purpose because it separates the hungry from the fakers. And then as people graduate, I open up a few more spots until it’s filled up again. You’ve got to know and probe and test to see where the truth is and where it isn’t. That’s where most people’s biggest problem is. The majority of people’s problems comes from getting along and people getting exploited. I get thousands and thousands of comments and messages throughout my social media accounts and it’s taught me to have a little more common sense. So at the end of the day, your ability to get the 4 Pillars of The Good Life: Health, Wealth, Love, and Happiness depends on your wisdom. And how do you get wisdom? It’s the common sense you get from being curious and observant. I hope you find it. I’m seeking it. I stumble upon it at times. Sometimes I’m wise and sometimes I’m a fool. And hopefully as you get older, the days you are foolish are outnumbered by the days you’re wise. Get out on a farm, too. Get out of the city. Take a hike and get reconnected or grounded. And if you do these things, you can get rewarded. You get the byproducts of making a little more money, getting healthy, and happiness. Get that health, wealth, love, and happiness.
