[(See my announcement video here)]( The Democratic Primary is on June 28, 2022. I can’t win without your support. Please join us by responding [here.]( Whether you contribute, volunteer, or simply vote for me… I need your help and will forever be grateful for your friendship and support. I believe that New Yorkers will be looking for three things in their next governor. 1. Proven Executive Experience. Everything in my life has prepared me for this particular job at this particular time. As Mayor of my hometown, I restored the city’s ailing fiscal health, revitalized the downtown business district, and spearheaded a nationally recognized $100 million cleanup of some of America’s worst toxic superfund sites. As Nassau County Executive, I turned around and managed a county that had a budget larger than 11 states and was on the brink of bankruptcy, I reduced crime, championed a $150 million environmental program and brought a revolutionary “No Wrong Door” human services delivery system to those most in need. I was the first elected official in New York who dared to take on the corruption in the state legislature, creating “Fix Albany.” I led the effort to pass a statewide Medicaid cap and chaired the New York State Property Tax Relief Commission that led to the property tax cap. As a Member of Congress, I led the fight to restore the SALT deduction, providing a much-needed tax break to millions of New Yorkers. As Vice-Chair of the Problems Solvers Caucus, I negotiated the bipartisan infrastructure bill that will deliver billions of dollars to New York and create millions of high-paying union jobs. I secured billions of dollars for New York hospitals, small businesses and residents during COVID. My work in these elected positions, enhanced by my background as a CPA and an attorney, demonstrates that I have the executive and political experience to lead our state. 2. Ideology: Approach to Governing. I am a common sense Democrat. I believe that the answer to New York’s problems will not be solved by moving radically to the left or to the right. We need to move forward. I am someone who can bring our great Democratic party and our great state together…by finding common ground. I will work with anyone to solve problems on behalf of the people I serve, as I always have. I am not about being politically correct — I am about doing things that are correct for the people of New York State. 3. Vision: A Plan for New York. New York has been hit with some overwhelming challenges the last few years. We need a Governor with a bold vision and a plan and who will do the nuts and bolts hard work to address COVID and the economy. We must lower state income taxes and reduce the highest-in-the nation property taxes. As Governor, I will combat rising crime, strictly enforce gun laws, and empower judges to keep violent criminals off the streets. We will get our homeless population off the city streets and into housing and mental health facilities. I will continue to fight to protect our environment and combat climate change and I will work with the New York City Mayor to empower all of our children’s education by getting our existing social services into our K-12 schools so that every child has the opportunity to succeed. The Governor of New York is one of the biggest jobs in the nation, wielding a $200 billion budget and massive responsibility to improve the lives of over 19 million residents. I have the track record, common sense approach and bold new vision to get it done. I can do it, because I have done it. [The Democratic Primary is on June 28, 2022. I can’t win without your support.
