[View this message as a web page]( [Reader Recommends]( Monday, October 30 - Thursday, November 2 Here's some of what we recommend for the week to come: Mon 10/30: Tailor-made for anyone who studied the liberal arts in college, [The Horror of the Humanities]( at the DePaul University Student Center (2250 N. Sheffield) is a slightly different take on a haunted house. It includes ghastly reminders of student debt and installation art created by students likely headed for a degree in unemployment. Oh, the humanities! 6 PM, free Tue 10/31: Reunited Chicago occult psych rock group [Coven]( play Metro (3730 N. Clark) after a hiatus that began in the mid-70s. The Reader's Monica Kendrick writes, "Coven never had the musical heaviness of [Black] Sabbath; what they had was [Jinx] Dawson herself, a self-declared Left Hand Path practitioner whose voice and charisma and daring were the cornerstone of the band's very 60s sexy Black Mass aesthetic—sincerity counts." 8 PM, $25 Tue 10/31: Dress to the 666s at the annual [Northalsted Halloween Parade](, a spectacle of elaborate, colorful costumes. The Chicago Thriller flash mob leads the charge down Halsted between Belmont and Cornelia, and a panel of drag queens will host a costume contest, broken down into four categories: original, group, drag, and scariest. 7:30 PM, free Tue 10/31-Wed 11/1: The [Obama Foundation Summit]( invites decision-makers from around the globe to discuss creative solutions to common problems, and to immerse themselves in the culture of every country represented. Join them at the eponymous Obama Foundation (5326 S. Lake Park). Various times, free Wed 11/1: At the new exhibit "[Saturday Night Live: the Experience](," sets from SNL, including the basement from Wayne’s World, are open to tour at the Museum of Broadcast Communications (360 N. State). Videos feature alums such as Seth Meyers explaining the process of the show's creation. 10 AM-8 PM, $25, $20 for seniors and students, free for children under 12 Thu 11/2: Personal stories told by [Dana Gould]( are tight, witty, and full of unexpected twists. Catch this former Simpsons writer when he comes to Zanies (5437 Park Pl., Rosemont). 8 PM, $25 plus two-item minimum Thu 11/2: Mrstealyourwig Entertainment hosts [Rent Due Comedy Show](, featuring some of Chicago's finest stand-up comics, at the Harold Washington Cultural Center (4701 S. King), including Taneshia "Just Nesh" Rice and Watch Jazzy, who appears on BET's 50 Central.
