Now that I'm older, they're a nice escape on that all-too-short day before Christmas, when it doesn't seem like I'll ever check everything off my holiday to-do list. Just as my feelings about Christmas Eve have evolved, so has the way I view Christmas movies. Where once I used to watch It's a Wonderful Life and worry about whether or not George would recover his will to live, I now notice what a beautiful job Mary Bailey did appointing their home. I still laugh at the ingenuity of Home Alone's Kevin, sending a toboggan down the stairs... and I also fantasize about having a grand staircase like that in my own house.
