Photo by eduardo_almeida/Getty Images. After a long, hot summer in California, a little rain sounds really good to me right now. And it just might happen for parts of the West, if early predictions from the National Weather Service pan out. Forecasts show that there is [a 60% chance of a La Niña weather pattern]( developing this fall and winter, which typically means more rain than usual in the Northwest, and drier conditions, possibly even drought, in the Southwest. I myself live in Northern California, which manages to find itself on the fuzzy edges of both those climactic regions, and therefore probably in for a fairly undramatic winter. Emphasis on "probably." Nothing is ever certain with weather, except for the inevitability of our complaining about it, no matter how fall and winter unfold.
