[Josh Belanger](joshbelanger) Oct 2 joshbelanger   [READ IN APP](   Hey there, Back on September 19th, I gave you a heads-up about escalating tensions in the Middle East and how defense stocks were set to benefit. In case you missed it, you can check out that post [here](. For those of you who are paid subscribers, the previous trade idea I shared is still valid, so be sure to review that in case you missed it. What’s Happened Since? Since then, things have escalated rapidly. Just last night, Iran launched 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, marking one of the most significant escalations in the ongoing conflict. This isn't just a regional skirmish—it's setting the stage for larger, potentially global repercussions. Netanyahu has already vowed retaliation, and as we've seen in the past, these kinds of events often spiral into protracted conflicts that stretch far beyond the initial flashpoints. Historically, when tensions like these arise, defense stocks skyrocket as governments increase defense spending to fortify their positions. We’re seeing this play out now, as $DFEN—the leveraged defense ETF—jumped 3.31% today in response to the missile attacks. As you can see, DFEN has been climbing steadily as defense stocks surge on the back of increasing geopolitical instability. But there’s more happening beneath the surface. 800% Surge in Lockheed Martin ($LMT) Options Lockheed Martin ($LMT) didn’t just see stock price gains—it also experienced an 800% surge in options trading today. The smart money is pouring into out-of-the-money (OTM) call options, betting that $LMT could rise another 7-15% in the coming weeks. Here’s a look at today’s options volume spike in $LMT: When institutional traders are betting this heavily, it’s not random. They are positioning for more upside in the stock, expecting further geopolitical escalation that could fuel defense spending and stock prices. These kinds of moves are strong signals that big money expects defense stocks, particularly LMT, to keep rising. How You Can Play This Now, you have a couple of options if you want to take advantage of these developments: - DFEN ETF: Trading at $36 per share, DFEN offers 3x leveraged exposure to key defense stocks like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Northrop Grumman. Leveraged ETFs like DFEN are ideal for short-term gains during volatile times like these, but they come with higher risk due to their leveraged nature. - Lockheed Martin ($LMT): Buying $LMT shares outright is another way to capitalize on this surge. However, at $605 per share, it requires a significant capital commitment. The Smarter, More Capital-Efficient Trade If you're looking for a more strategic and capital-efficient way to play this surge, I’ll be breaking down a specific options trade on $LMT in my Hot Money Trader service tomorrow morning. This service tracks big and unusual options bets, like today’s 800% surge, and gives you a step-by-step guide on how to trade them for maximum upside with minimized risk. The smart money is already positioned—now it’s your turn to follow their lead. Want to get in on tomorrow’s trade? join Hot Money Trader and get the full breakdown on how to trade [$L]( $MT tomorrow.
