[Garrett {NAME}](floridarepublic) Jun 28 floridarepublic   [READ IN APP](   [Market Update - Republic Risk]( Well, the good news is that our January Core Portfolio of Seven stocks beat the S&P 500 over the first six months of the year, and we’ll look for that to continue over the next 18 months. Our complete portfolio (included the additions on a monthly basis) returned 10% against the 4% return of the Weighted Average of the S&P 500. So… let me remind you… On Monday, we’ll have a new list of stocks. I’m looking for at least six stocks. [Get 20% off for 1 year]( We’ll do a discount ahead of Monday’s release of this new portfolio, which we’ll be more actively trading using 20-day and 50-day moving averages. So, join us. And get started. --------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Fellow Expat: I’m still on Italian time, so I’ve been up since 4 am. That means one thing… I get to watch Squawk Box on CNBC - the most absurd television show about finance. If you haven’t seen it, a sleepy basset hound, a corporatist insider, and a guy who tells you that he used to work for Merrill Lynch (stop that!), talk about the market. The first hour (starting at 6 am) is very hard to watch. But this morning, something did catch my attention. The CEO of Oura Health, a healthcare company that monitors heart rates through smart ring technology, explained that last night’s debate was on par with World Cup finals matches when it came to “heart rate” spikes among the populace. Heart rate spikes… during this Presidential debate. Perhaps it is good that there was only one this summer. As if we need more stress. I can’t believe that I returned to America on the night of this debate. Recapping Europe A few readers asked for some visual recaps of the trip. I’ll just offer five… No. 1: Teatro dell'Opera di Roma Amelia at Teatro on the final night. No. 2: The Roman Seagull This seagull stole the show at the Colosseum. It stood in this spot for 10 minutes and just looked at people snapping pictures of it. No. 3: The School of Athens While rattling through the Vatican, I backed into the Raphael Rooms for a moment. And I found this… The boy writing on the left, and the man leaning and watching him write/draw are the images on the covers of Guns & Roses albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II - which were two of the first CDs that I ever purchased. No. 4: The Last Supper It was interesting to visit the Da Vinci Science Museum to see 10 to 15 “covers” of The Last Supper over the last 300 years. But there was nothing like the original. In Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams’ character delivers a stunning monologue at Matt Damon’s Hunting on life. And tells him that he doesn’t know what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel. I didn’t take any pictures in the Sistine Chapel (it is forbidden). I did in the Last Supper room, and I could describe the scent and the history at length. This was a very moving experience, and worth the cost of traveling to Venice. No. 5: Outside the Colosseum There is one picture I won’t share. It’s from my last day, when my daughter and I went for a walk and got Gelato. We walked around the Argentine embassy, as the trip had ended. That’s where it sunk it. She would be heading to school soon, our summer would be broken up by other individual trips and camps. And I just had those five minutes with her. I have a picture of her with chocolate all over her face. I asked her if she wanted to walk around the block again. She said “No.” And that was that. That’s for me. That picture and that walk will remain locked in a mental vault, and only I shall have the key. But I will share this final one… it’s outside the Colosseum, and it incapsulates her youth, this trip, and why it’s so important that I teach her about travel at a young age. She was really excited about this plastic armor. It was worth every Euro for this picture. When you see this… it’s impossible not to… Stay positive, Garrett {NAME} PS: Remember, on Monday, we’ll be releasing our new portfolio, and we’ll start the process of more active management. There are a lot of great things ahead, and this will be your last chance to ever see this product anywhere near this price. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
