We are seeing dozens of gorgeous houses and buildings for the regional NZIA architecture awards - this week it is Canterbury architecture in focus. And we just love [the Seven Colorful Little Houses in Rolleston](stuff.co.nz/home-property/350271134/seven-colourful-little-houses-collects-architecture-prize?lid=wm2h29z7xitk&utm_source=editorial%2Bnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Stuff%2BHomed&utm_content=email%2Blink) that have taken out a Housing - Multi Unit award and a Resene Colour Award. These homes are similar in design, but theyâre all a different colour, and that extends right through to the interior. Take a look at the kitchens. I canât work out which colour I like best - red, orange, green, blue ⦠theyâre all brilliant. And itâs kitchens in focus with the [TIDA Kitchens awards announced](stuff.co.nz/home-property/350271143/award-winning-kitchens-include-grand-designs-house?lid=yucj3n1viflf&utm_source=editorial%2Bnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Stuff%2BHomed&utm_content=email%2Blink) this week. There are four winners, and I have taken a particular shine to the one in the [Grand Designs NZ house in Mahurangi]( that featured in the last season, screening in November. Designed by owner-architect Felicity Brenchley, this house is a magnificently detailed family home that references Mid-century design. And that is much in evidence in the kitchen, which has beautiful oak veneer cabinetry and a long island with contrasting dark-stained timber beading. I have had the privilege of [seeing this house in person]( - it was my favourite Grand Designs build last year. Coming home to my tiny galley kitchen and over-filled cupboards was a comedown. But I cope, because, like many of you, I donât have a choice. And when that small space is filled with friends and family, it doesnât matter anyway. It doesnât hurt to dream, though. We are still calling for entrants to our [Resene test pot competition](. Send us pics of a creative project you've completed with test pots, and WIN!
