Get ahead Are You a Dog Chasing Cars... err... Clients? Harken back to the year 2008 and the client-getting lesson in the second of Christopher Nolan’s 3-part Batman series — “The Dark Knight.” This star-studded cast featured Oscar winners Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and most importantly for our purposes here... the late, great Heath Ledger who received a posthumous Oscar for his performance as the Joker. So... the scene that made me think of what so many independent coaches, consultants, advisors, agencies, service pros and solution providers are doing is when the Joker (Heath Ledger), is in the hospital talking to District Attorney Harvey Dent. Dent accuses the Joker of carrying out his evil plans to kill his girlfriend, and the Joker responds: “Do I really look like a guy with a plan? I’m just a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it, you know, I just DO things.” Frankly, that’s what it seems so many entrepreneurs are doing. They don’t really have a plan. They just “do things”, and the activity makes it seem like something useful is actually happening, even though it’s more like the famous headless chicken. They’re just off and running with very little thought given to outcomes... insanely chasing clients like a dog chases cars, but without the barking. And just like those car chasers, they don’t know what to do when they actually “catch” a car, any more than business owners know what to do with an interested prospect once they “catch” one. Since they’re always shooting from the hip, they just improvise and hope for the best. That’s one of the beauties of the CYOA client-getting model, pioneered by my good friend, Daniel Levis. It FORCES you to do what you should be doing anyway. You HAVE TO map out and plan your lead gen and client-getting in detail — from start to finish and every persuasive word in between. The CYOA model, if you’re just tuning in, uses a lead generation strategy that is FAR more interactive than a free report, quiz, or webinar. And by the way, CYOA stands for Choose Your Own Adventure, which is like a game where the kids make up parts of the story themselves as it progresses. It’s like a conversation with branched videos that the prospect interacts with as they choose multiple steps in the process… weeding out the bad matches and the bad apples in the process… and moving the best clients, the cream of the crop, to the top. This next generation LGM is just being noticed so it’s still like getting in on the ground floor of an exploding business. [So check it out NOW, while there’s still time to get ahead of the game.]() You get to watch the process and INTERACT as the inspirational case studies carry you along. But there’s nothing to buy and you make no commitments, so there’s no reason NOT to take a look… … And you won’t be tempted to chase another car… err… client.
