This solution is Low Energy Cartridge (LEC) technology, a non-lethal cartridge-based munitions technology ordnance system, proprietary under development by KWESST Micro Systems Inc. These segments are: - Public order (riots and control of dangerous subjects) - Military and law enforcement training (realistic force-on-force training) - Personal defence (home, car, boat, RV, camping, hiking) - High-action gaming "The kind of fatalities that have led to widespread protests in the US are just one example of the need for more advanced solutions that enable law enforcement to engage with more benign devices from a safer stand-off distance and ensure that everyone goes home alive." DEFSEC Corporation is the owner of the LEC technology. It is an Ottawa-based based private company that is owned by David Luxton, whom is also KWESST's executive chairman. KWESST [entered into a formal technology purchase agreement]( on January 15, 2021 with DEFSEC to acquire the LEC technology and is currently finalizing due diligence on the technology and also its market potential. More than three decades ago, Luxton founded Simunition Inc., a business that develops and sells simulated munitions for realistic close-quarters combat training for military and law enforcement globally. MacLeod, a highly knowledgeable defence industry executive possesses more than 20 years' experience in the field of small arms and advanced soldier systems. Prior to establishing KWESST, he was the General Manager of the primary supplier of small arms to the Canadian military - Colt Canada.
