Read time: 1 min, 9 sec I’d just spent the last 72 hours getting obliterated. It was an epic weekend binge drinking with friends. But now it was Sunday. And I was on a flight from SFO to JFK. The whole weekend felt like a blur. And man, I was hungover as shit. In that moment, I told myself: This isn't the life I want to live. I'm tired of living for the weekends. I'm tired of waking up on Mondays with existential dread. I sat there in silence on the plane and pulled out the only thing in my backpack. (my phone died bc i was a drunk idiot and didnt charge it) It was a book... a book about manifestation. Yes, that woo-woo shit. After reading a few pages, the message was clear: "If you really want to change, you must truly visualize it." So, I asked myself: Pat, what do you want to change: I want to pay off all of my debt. I want to follow my passion. I want to be able to wake up and work on whatever I want. I want to be free. So... I wrote this all down on this little piece of paper. I wrote down exactly what I wanted. I wrote down exactly when I'd get it. Then, I wrote down exactly how I'd get there. See the rips at the top of the paper? That's because when I got home, I nailed this piece of paper above my bed. Every morning and every evening, I was forced to read it. And over time, this goal, this belief became cemented into my subconscious. Slowly but surely, this dream turned into a reality. In 15 months, I paid off $65K worth of debt and built the beginnings of a business that would change my life. "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." This. This simple mindset shift. It changed everything for me. I could sit here and tell you that it was all about tactics. The perfect business idea. A great SEO strategy. Blah blah blah. But that wouldn't be the truth. And I don't want to lie to you. It all starts with belief. If you're serious about changing your beliefs, then I think you should check out Starter Story. You can see how thousands of ordinary people (just like you) found an idea and built a business that changed their lives.
