Plus, don't miss 50% off fat quarters »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» [Spoonflower]( [Fabric]( [Wallpaper]( [Living & Decor]( [Dining]( [Bedding]( [Artist Spotlight: 19 Indigenous Creatives You Should Know ]( [Designs by 10buffalosart]( “The design that has brought me the most inspiration this year is [Moon Night Star](. My original painting incorporates geometric stars which are used in traditional star blankets among Native Americans. Star blankets represent community connection, honor and generosity, as well as marking the deep bonds of Native American communities. The moon was added to represent the culture of the Pacific Northwest where I grew up. This design was recently printed on Spoonflower's [Satin fabric]( to create a skirt for Tacoma Arts Fashion Show and is now on display at Allied Arts of Whatcom County.” - Shana Yellow Calf Lukinich [Designs by mylesdesigns ]( “[This design]( illustrates the connections between milkweed plants/seeds & monarch butterflies. Many people are planting pollinator gardens to protect these precious forms of life and I wanted to create something that visualizes the sacred hoop of harmony and life that exists in the natural world. There are symbols of my Dakota culture in the art deco-inspired piece, such as the morning star representing knowledge and wisdom that comes from understanding and the circles, representing the sacred hoops connecting the monarch butterfly and milkweed in a living balance.” - Marlena Myles [Designs by southern_cheyenne_art ]( “My [Life]( design shows two Cheyennes, a man and his wife. They are singing, using "Buffalo Calling Songs" to help bring the Buffalo to Tsis' Hestaneo', the Cheyenne People. The Cheyenne People have always utilized Buffalo/Bison in their lifeways for food, clothing, shelter, ceremonials, etc. As a member of the Cheyenne Tribe, I draw inspiration from the art and history of the Cheyenne People. I used a Traditional Cheyenne Genre called Ledger Art to create this art. Originating amongst the Cheyenne in the 1840s, it was used to capture important events in daily and family life.” - George Curtis Levi [Designs by tundraflowerdesigns ]( “The uluaq is a traditional all-purpose knife used by Indigenous peoples throughout the circumpolar north. My [Tundra Flower Uluaq / Ulu]( design was inspired by the multipurpose tool, representing memories we have with our mothers, grandmothers, aunts and cousins. When learning to use this tool we form purposeful relationships and invaluable memories through instruction from those who are more experienced. We learn to process traditional foods, complete sewing projects, and other various tasks; while celebrating each other and creating a sense of community.” - Rebecca Wilbur [Designs by weomepedesigns ]( “My original idea was to create a geometric scissortail bird incorporating Native/Indigenous/Tribal attributes within the design. The [Weomepe Scissortail]( design began as a sticker graphic. The sticker was so popular that the idea of a pattern came to life. Printed with Spoonflower, the pattern was featured in my first fashion show in fall 2021 and has evolved into several variations, the latest featured in my Weomepe Designs fashion shows in June and October 2022. Through this creative process I learned more about the life of scissortails, which has helped with composition and selecting colors.” - Jessica Moore Harjo [Designs by soul_curiosity ]( “My design [Air Collection]( celebrates the air element. We can’t see air, but we feel it on our skin. We observe its presence when the trees and flowers move. Without thinking, we immediately take a deep breath in, as if knowing air has mystical properties to soothe our souls. Air Collection is about slowing down and observing the world as is, not grieving the past or worrying about the future. This winter, let the air element inspire more mindful living and bring you back to the present moment. The shapes pointing toward the center of the pattern represent the power of being present within one’s self.” - Tessa Sayers [Shop trending fabric]( Featured Designs: [Fat Quarters Gifts]( curated collection Promotion of 50% off fat quarters is valid from 12:00 a.m. ET on November 15, 2022 through 11:59 p.m. ET on November 17, 2022.
