So they basically create a lot of hype with all the influencers and press releases and then NOT offer pre-orders. Unbelievable :) Anyway, here comes the question for all my readers: My quick two cents on this lens: Like every GM lens produced by Sony, this is an excellent lens with only one flaw--it's a bit pricey! If you want to save some money, consider buying the [Sigma 85 mm f/1.4 instead](. It is almost as good as the Sony for $710 less! My brief thoughts on the need for an 85mm f/1.2: Sony had to update the old GM lens, and it makes no sense to launch an f/1.2 before this update. A GM f/1.2 would be heavier, bulkier, more expensive, and therefore a niche product. Nevertheless, I think Sony should focus on making an 85 mm f/1.2, especially since the competition offers this option and Sony cannot ignore it.
