The New York Minute
- [The latest]( on the tenuous situation with Carlos Beltran.
- SNY's Andy Martino [reported yesterday]( that the Yankees are not being investigated by MLB for sign-stealing.
- Jason Garrett [interviewed]( for the Giants' offensive coordinator job yesterday, and is a "strong candidate."
- Kenny Wooten, [ahead of]( the Knicks' game tomorrow: "Grinding in the G-League, it's given me a lot of confidence. It's really humbled me."
- [According to]( Joe Burrow, the cash Odell Beckham Jr. was handing out after the national title game was indeed real.
- Handing out grades on [the Mets' offseason](.
1. Beltran's future remains in question
As of Wednesday night, the Mets hadn't said anything regarding the future of manager Carlos Beltran in connection to the massive cheating scandal that has so far claimed the managerial jobs of Houston's A.J. Hinch and Boston's Alex Cora.
(The only potential discipline for Beltran will come from the Mets, as MLB has made clear it won't penalize players involved in the 2017 cheating scandal, only coaches and managers).
But, going [by this tweet]( by SNY's Andy Martino, anything seems possible:
- "If the Mets do find themselves looking for a new manager in a hurry, Eduardo Perez already had an ownership-level interview that went well. As reported at the time, they also had a list of veteran guys they liked but didn't end up interviewing, which included Gibbons and Ventura."
[More]( from Martino:
- "What I know has been going on is a lot of fact finding, internal discussions, all kinds of things that would take time. ... I will say that the length of this does not seem on the surface to bode well for Beltran keeping his job."
A decision looms for the Mets.
On SNY.tv: [With no news on Carlos Beltran expected Wednesday, where do the Mets go from here?](

2. Jan. 16, 2011: Can't wait!
(Old friend Darrelle Revis)
On this day nine years ago, the heavily-favored No. 1 seed Patriots lost at home to the Jets, 28-21, in the AFC Divisional Round, sending New York to the AFC Championship for the second year in a row.
It was a miracle win in and of itself, made even more improbable by the fact that New England had beaten the Jets a month and 10 days before by a 45-3 score.
Tom Brady's line: 29 of 45, 299 yards, two touchdowns, one interception
Mark Sanzhez's magnum opus: 16 of 25, three touchdowns, 194 yards, no interceptions
Bart Scott's post game interview: [Still a piece of cinematic perfection](
You can check out the box score [here]( and settle into the entire game [here](.

DAILY TRIVIA
Before they were the Jets, the team spent its first three seasons playing under what name?
3. The 2009-11 New York Jets, by the numbers
14.8; 19 points per game
During the 2009-10 season, the Jets had the best scoring defense in the league, at 14.8 points allowed per game, and the sixth-best in 2010-11, at 19.
Four teams
The Jets are one of four teams in the AFC since 2009 -- the Ravens, Patriots and Chiefs are the others -- to reach the AFC Championship two years in a row.
9-7
This year's 9-7 Titans are the first team to reach the AFC Championship game since ... the 2009 Jets, who were also a sixth seed and also 9-7.
Five points
After beating the Patriots in early-2011, the Jets lost by only five points, 24-19, to the Steelers with a shot at a second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history on the line. Only five points, [Rex](.

4. Butler goes down
No. 18 Seton Hall (13-4, 5-0) went to Indiana last night and left with its biggest win in years, topping No. 5 Butler, 78-70, to extend its winning streak to seven games and take over first place in the Big East.
What happened: The Pirates were down 10 at halftime but outscored the Bulldogs, 48-30, in the second half and by a 13-4 tally to end the game.
The star: Myles Powell, the team's leading scorer, dropped 29 overall and 19 in the second half.
The spread: Entering the game, Seton Hall was a 4.5-point underdog.
What it means: If the Pirates can handle business against St. John's on Saturday in Queens, they'll ascend to perhaps a top 10 ranking in Monday's AP Top 25 poll. They [haven't cracked]( the top 10 since the 2000-01 season.
Other Wednesday night college scores:
- Providence 63, St. John's 58
- Rutgers 59, Indiana 50
