Over the holidays, I had a lot of conversations with other entrepreneurs about 2024 and what kind of trends we might see. Unsurprisingly, AI was at the center of all of it. “AI tools for entrepreneurs will make it easier to automate and build systems.” “AI will help create predictable models and forecasting models.” "AI will be able to write copy and even code pages for us in an instant.” Frankly, I’m growing tired of the AI conversation. It’s an important topic, but so dominant that it’s distracting us from something that really matters. As a result, I believe we’ll see a significant trend in 2024. Thankfully, this is a trend we can all get behind and should be grateful for. Let’s get unstuck. QUOTE OF THE WEEK “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.” —Obi-Wan Kenobi THE STORY Think about the era when the automobile first became mainstream. Cities and societies were rapidly transforming, and everyone was talking about these new motor vehicles. The roads were filling up with cars, and the air buzzed with discussions about speed, convenience, and the modernization of transport. This was the “AI conversation” of that time. However, amidst this vehicular revolution, something quieter (but equally significant) was happening: the renaissance of public parks and green spaces. As streets became crowded with cars, people began to cherish and value the tranquility found in parks. What was once taken for granted — open, shared spaces where people could connect with nature and each other — became precious and sought-after. In 2024, as we navigate through a world saturated with AI talk and technology, I believe we will see a renaissance of something we’ve started to overlook: the things in our businesses that are fundamentally human. This “green space” within our entrepreneurial world will become our sanctuary, offering balance, perspective, and a return to core values that technology can’t replicate. Let’s embrace this trend — a refreshing counterbalance to the AI craze — and find our way back to the essence of what makes us innovative, creative, and truly connected. Here are two ways you can do this: - Tell more real stories. Master the art of storytelling and prioritize bringing emotion to your podcasts, videos, and social media. This kind of emotion is something AI will never be able to replicate, and it will become something all of us crave more of this year. Even MrBeast, the world’s most successful YouTuber, is following this trend of slower, more emotional storytelling. Get good at it. - Create your market’s version of a “green space.” Instead of waiting for someone else to create the go-to community in your industry, you should be the one to do it. As I keep saying (and I won’t stop), businesses and brands with a community component will survive — everyone else will die out. A small community of people with a shared interest and a safe space to interact is way more powerful than a brand with a million disconnected followers. I stand by that. AI is here, and although it seems to be replacing things humans can do, it is also showing us the things that make us more human — the things only humans can do. Let’s be more human, together.
