theCUBE analysis & upcoming broadcasts [On theCUBE Pod: Tech earnings, AI’s uncertain future and Intel’s uphill battle]( In episode 45 of Pod]( theCUBE Research analysts John Furrier and Dave Vellante discuss AI, cybersecurity challenges, the media industry's evolving landscape and the impact of AI investments by major tech companies, such as Intel, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Nvidia. Up for discussion, the ongoing talent gap between traditional IT and supercloud capabilities, mentioning VMware as a potential solution.   The conversation also delves into the importance of platform engineering for the next generation and the role of hardware and chips in meeting AI demand. Additionally, they speculate about the future of IPOs, cybersecurity and journalism while emphasizing the need for trusted networks in the evolving digital communication landscape. Intel in particular was mentioned as the company's shares fell more than 10% in after-hours trading after the company provided a lower sales forecast. AI may be everywhere, except for when it comes to Intel, Vellante added. Multiple startups want to be a part of the supercloud abstraction layer, according to Furrier. “If you can't run your apps across clouds, then you're going to have challenges on the operations side. I think -- and I predicted this last week on the Pod and multiple pods for that platform -- engineering has to be in place for this next generation, and there's not enough talent. The talent gap between traditional IT and supercloud-like capabilities will be an issue.”   You can catch the latest theCUBE Pod. They discuss various topics, including macro-IT spending, the impact of AI, AI ROI, cybersecurity, M&A activities, data quality, governance skills, momentum in the industry and technology priorities for 2024.   Vellante shares his process of reviewing over 1,000 predictions, highlighting the most inspiring and categorizing by topic. They emphasize that AI is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and that market leaders are likely to excel by effectively embedding and embracing AI. They also introduce the concept of the power law, suggesting that a few dominant players will emerge in 2024. While 90% of work still happens on-premises, according to the prevailing narrative, a significant portion of this is actually in the telecommunications sector, according to Vellante. The telecommunications market is likely as large as the conventional IT market. Once telecommunications are excluded, a substantially larger proportion of workloads are found to be in the cloud.   "It's not so much a story of migration anymore; it's a battle for new work, new workloads, new spending," he said. "Much of that AI work is being done in the cloud today. But because of the reasons that we mentioned before and the whole discussion that we had talked about around the long tail of the gen AI power law -- and the fact that budgets just aren't going through the roof like in 2020 and 2021 -- people have to make choices and they have to make trade-offs.”   Read Dave Vellante’s complete Breaking Analysis.
