Let 'er rip. Hi Reader, Big Bill here... I'm old enough to remember a time when people thought pro wrestling was real. And that the "news" was real. And that online product reviews were real. Well, if the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) gets its way, sh*t's about to get real in the world of fake product reviews. That's because, according to Seeking Alpha, "New rules are set to combat fake reviews and testimonials, while the agency will be allowed to seek civil penalties against knowing offenders." "Fake reviews not only waste people's time and money, but also pollute the marketplace and divert business away from honest competitors," FTC Chair Lina Khan declared. "By strengthening the FTC's toolkit to fight deceptive advertising, the final rule will protect Americans from getting cheated, put businesses that unlawfully game the system on notice, and promote markets that are fair, honest, and competitive." What's driving this new regulatory effort is AI. We now live in a "deep fake" world. It's getting harder – and soon will be impossible – to tell the real from the fake. That video you're watching with your own two eyes – the one where Nancy Pelosi rides and/or wrestles an elephant – is it real? (Spoiler alert: It is in fact real. There's a video where the elephant admits as much.) Seeking Alpha says the new rules, "could translate into great responsibility for companies like Amazon (AMZN), Facebook (META), Google (GOOGL), Tripadvisor (TRIP) and Yelp (YELP)." (Wouldn't it be amazing if the FTC comes out and says that the reports saying it's making new rules are all fake?) I suppose fake reviews are a problem. But I've never put too much credence into them anyway. Not just products. Any review of anything, Remember these guys? That's Siskel and Ebert. They got famous reviewing movies. Movies. Does anyone really need to see a review of Spiderman XLIV before they see the film? Apparently, they do. I wrote about movies [this past Monday]( more or less. But I didn't give my opinion on this or that action flick. Instead, I gave an actionable trade idea -- Inseego Corp. (INSG). So far so good... If you got in on that idea, and you're getting paid now, we'd love to hear from you. In fact, if you've got anything at all to say about True Market Insiders – the market content, the trades ideas, Bill's corny jokes, etc. We want to know! Just reply to this email and let it rip. We'll read every word, and, unlike online reviews, we'll know it's real. Anything you say represents your honest thoughts and opinions. Before you do, do yourself a favor and [check out the video Chris Rowe had for you on Tuesday](. It's about how a recent "bear trap" in Nvidia is telling you how to approach the market. Chris shows you how he knew the trap was coming.,. How it played out... And what it could mean for your account if you make the right moves right away. Then, read Costas (C-Bo) Bocelli's take on the upcoming election (and [get the 3 free stock picks he has for you](. And of course – hit REPLY and tell us anything that's on your mind.
